Simple Plan: Perfect-World Meaning
Perfect-World Lyrics
I never could've seen this coming
It seems like my world's falling apart, yeah
Why is everything so hard?
I don't think I can deal with the things you said
It just won't go away
In a perfect world
This...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song is about a guy who is in love with this girl and she leaves him without a care in the world and he just doesn't understand why she doesn't see how much he cares about her and is depressed over her blindness. It's a sad song but happens so often in this world.

I know it's not about a guy and a girl but that's the way I see it anyway.
A guy really, truly loves a girl...and believes she loves him too. But out of no-where...or to him at least, she dumps him. He's heartbroken but she's dating someone else within a week. The song is about how inperfect the world is because if it were perfect she wouldn't have left. If it were any other girl and it was a normal relationship he could've picked up he pieces...but having to see her with another guy and her not caring made it that much harder -
I think it has to do with friends, or family, not necessarily a girl. I think that it's somehow them leaving each other or being torn apart from each other and while the narrator cares that they lost each other so much the other person really couldn't care less. I think it has something to do with betrayal and confusion and hurt.

actually, according to Chuck, it isnt really about a girl! He said on the dvd of Still Not Gettin' Any... tht it could actually be abt alot of things. He said world catastrophes and things like tht! Not just abt a girl!

(This goes both ways for boys and girls, so I will write this in a girls perspective only because it is more meaningful for me. It may sound weird, but just look at the lyrics, not at the singers voice for this. This may sound like a familiar story (wink, wink) but it is very meaningful.)
A girl loves a guy and vice versa. She thought he would love her forever. Then he leaves unexpectedly and she is torn. She thought her world was perfect with him in it. She seems shattered and can't put her thoughts together enough to believe it. She used to think she was invincible with him by her side, then once he left she doubts herself. She is confused and lost and just needs him. (For all guys, just trade all the she's to he's and her's to his'/him's). -
This song is about tragedy of any sort. It could mean losing a boyfriend or girlfriend, someone close to you dying, 9/11 tragedy it could be anything like that.
"in a perfect world this could never happen, in a perfect world you'd still be here". That pretty much is self explanatory... If the world was perfect something so horrible would have never of happened and that person still would have been here. -
I think it's about friends and every problem they have and in their world there wouldn't be sadness or divorce or heartbreak just everything would be good.
and without friends they would lose their way.
or it's about his father or mother walking out if that happened to them in their life I'm not sure but it is completely possible. -
This song is about a guy who likes a girl that moves away! There trying to say in a perfect world she would be still be there and everything would be fine! I know what they mean, I like a guy and he doesn't know, we ware friends but he didn't know I had stronger feelings! Anyway he is moving away to perth in 2days! I AM HEARTBROKEN

What's "it" in 'cause we lost it all? is it love? trust?
what about "the pain I feel inside"? is it because he is rejected by his father?
And why do they fight? is it because he didn't grow up according to plan?
I really need the answers please! -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Yeah. I don't think its just about a boy and a girl. I mean it can be about any kind. family, friends, loved ones. Its just about losing something so close, so dear. Something that you would never of tought would've left, and they're gone. Without caring. Without feelings. Without emotions.
-
Well the first one is half true. The song is about a girl and someone that you lose who is close to you. On the second CD, it has a DVD side and Chuck said that it was about both and that they left and how sad it is to lose someone that you love.
