Simple Plan: Untitled Meaning
Untitled Lyrics
I try to see but I’m blinded by the white light
I can’t remember how
I can’t remember why
I’m lying here tonight
And I can’t stand the pain
And I can’t make it go away
No I can’t stand the pain
How could this happen to...

#1 top rated interpretation:Although the song is about a drunk driver, and all that, which as already been covered, may I take you along a journey to a slightly different view of the song?
Listen to it again, and think of a person who has just woken up in the hospital after a suicide attempt...the thoughts and feelings the person is going through as they realise they have failed.
It is not about this, I know, but the lyrics actually do more or less match that scene also, makes for interesting listening :) -

#2 top rated interpretation:There was an interview with simple plan on the radio when this song came and they talked about what it meant. You guys are almost right, it's about one of their friends who died because of a drink driver. That made them open their eyes and realise just how many people are dying due to the goddamn stupidity of drunk drivers. This song is a tribute to their friend and anyone else who has been hurt or killed by a drunk driver. Message: don't drink and drive!!

#3 top rated interpretation:I think the song speaks for itself. It tells about how somebody make a huge mistake in life and regrets it. There is nothing he/she could do about it. Just suffer the consoquences. The music video though shows how tragic something could happen in life such as drunk driving and somebody is killed. I think the song could have several meanings. Though it really is about something tragic that happens to people in everyday life. Somebody killed in a drinking and driving incident is just a great example. I just want to say that I am glad there are bands to put out music like this. They inspire me and make me realize that I won't let any of my friends drink and drive.

This song is open for interpretation, hence the title. As the video shows, it’s about this guy who killed a girl in a car accident. He gets arrested, but the song’s chorus can mean that he doesn’t want to be in jail or that he has a lot of regret for ending an innocent person’s life. There are other meanings, but they also revolve around some sort of loss.

Don't drink and drive.
This song is ruined because of memers -
I think this song is mainly about regret.
We wish that we'd been better to someone we care about because when that person dies, you think about the grief from learning that the person you cared about is gone forever, you start to think about the way how you treated him/her and you wonder if you could've done better because you'll start to get the feeling that you weren't nice enough to that person, that you failed him/her.
Because ask yourselves: Why do people think more about the bad things that they've done or that have happened to them than to the good things?
Because no matter the time that goes by, you'll never entirely get through the loss of a person you cared about or through the bad stuff you've been through even if it somehow it gets better.
It won't changed what has happened because since we've already been through it, it won't get out of our mind just that easily.
You start to wish you could turn back time and change things to better, to fix your mistakes, right your wrongs, make it all right just to spare yourself of the pain that you feel in your heart. -
In between the lines the message in the song is about forgiving, but not forgetting.
After you live one of these events, you would know how it feels, you forgive the othe, but inside you will never forget, or really forgive this such person that caused you to have such an event.
You wont forget what has happened, never will, but you have to make the best out of what you have in your life, because you see how fast someone can have their life taken away, and this can also happen to you, so live your life hapily, and live it while it lasts. -
Although they said it was about drinking and driving, the songs name is untitled because its open to interpretation, it could mean different things to different people. From depression, to some big mistakes
-
Although the video depicts the issue of drunk driving, this song can be interpreted in many different ways. The song is basically about tragedy if you listen to the lyrics. It doesn't really say what exactly happens in the lyrics- just that he's made his mistakes before- but not like this- and that something has happened, and now he's falling apart because of it. I really love this song as it can pertain to such a wide variety of issues in life.
-
I understand where the drunk driving interpretations come from, but this songs lyrics are too open ended to only be about that.
I see it about being more about pain in general. Death, divorce, house fires, I can go on and on.
And really, I think even the fact that they named the song 'Untitled' proves that they wanted to sing about pain, but not any specific pain -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

this song is soo emotionaly attached to my life.alot of things happened in my life. and im glad i can relate to one of the best songs out there!

It's about how people can be affected when someone they know dies. Sometimes, when someone dies, the friends and family members feel as though it's their fault and they never forgive themselves. Sometimes they feel so bad about themselves they would rather be dead, too.

I know it is about someone dying because of drunk driving but first time I ever heard it I thought it was about a boy who got drunk with his girlfriend and they both hated their lives and decided to jump off a building (when still drunk). The boy survived, only just, but the girl dies. It made me cry first time I ever heard it.
