Simple Plan: Astronaut Meaning

Album cover for Astronaut album cover

Song Released: 2011

Astronaut Lyrics

Can anybody hear me?
Or am I talking to myself?
My mind is running empty
In this search for someone else
Who doesn't look right through me.
It's all just static in my head
Can anybody tell me why I'm lonely like a satellite?

'Cause...

This song means that the main video clip hero (guy with astronaut costume) is lonely. Don't think that he's somewhere in moon or any other planet without other people it's just a beautiful metaphor... There are many lonely people walking around us, but feeling like astronauts, thinking that they're different from other people, because other people don't talk with them or mock them. Lyrics "Sending SOS from this tiny box", "Can I please come down, cause I'm tired of drifting round and round", "Can I please come down?" means that the hero tries to be like other people, but hey! We are humans and we all are different, so we just have to be yourself. With this song Simple Plan wants to tell that they're not alone (lyrics: "I know that there are millions people that the world forgot"). They say that it's not true and they're just different (for example likes different things in compare with people around them). The girl at the ending of the clip is most likely like him (lonely), but then they found each other and they're not lonely anymore. If you are feeling lonely or "not like others" it's not true. Allot of super talented people where different (for example: Mozart, creating melodies and playing them all day, all night, Bill Gates programming Windows all day, all night, Steve Jobs creating Apple products). It's even better to be different and not like everyone, because sometime people are just jealous, because you're more beautiful, richer or you are more talented than them, so they mock you because they don't have the things that YOU do and they just want to be better than YOU, so don't give up! You are not alone in this world and you will surely find people like you, like this astronaut from the Simple Plan video clip did!

I think that the narrator is just lonely, He doesn't fit in with the others, he's considered an "outcast" and he just... is lonely. When he says "Now I'm stuck out here and the world forgot" i think he means that no one really cares about him, no one nocices. I also think that when he says "Can anybody tell me why I'm lonely like a satellite?" he means that he wants to know why the others don't like him, why he's so different. I also think that when he says "Can i pleeeaase come down" it's kinda pointed at his peers, and he's kinda asking "can i be accepted? Can i be 'normal'?"

Anyways, that's just what i think.

This is a song that reminds me of my past...

Being an Outcast and a Loner.

The song implies that some people are really alone in this world, they want to love someone but with no avail they dont have any connection at all, which kinda sad to some of us like me...

Well here it is being said that he got left out from whomever he had for a lot of reasons. Lost love , lost friends and now he's stuck in loneliness and wants to get back to the time where he was happy with everyone he loved and everyone who loved him . So he's looking out so that something as such happens. Deep song it is.

I tink its about someone who has died, and is now stuck in some spiritual limbo waiting for his beloved to die too. He tries contacting her, but fails. She eventually returns, and he is freed from an eternity of loneliness.

song meaning... a man gets left behind, he is alone and scared of the changes that are ahead, metaphor's are used when he says most his words and all over it is a full metaphor of the way he wants something out off everything he does. when i listen to this i can see a past life that i had been through and i believe that this song is exactly for that, if you have been through all this neglect and loneliness just looking for someone to hear you then you listen to this song and you realize your not the only one that feels like that. ehhhhh, meaning dont matter if they are not from the writer, all we do is guess our meanings off the song but i believe its just a meaning of what we make it ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ all that is above me is exactly what i mean

Personally, I think this song is about a guy who really likes this girl, but she doesn`t even notice him. He wants her to notice him and he`s trying to get her attention

It means that he is lonely. He is not with anyone though he wants to. He feels very lonely. He likes this girl but she doesn't like him back. Thus, he feels LONELY.
