5 Seconds of Summer: English Love Affair Meaning
English Love Affair Lyrics
I was looking for attention
Needed intervention
Felt somebody looking at me
With a powder white complexion
Feeling the connection
The way she looked was so ridiculous
Every single step had me waiting for...

It's about Ashton's affair with Gemma Styles (Harry Styles' sister). Harry was pretty mad about it and its like a running joke to the directioners.
-
The song is about a little affair between Ashton and Gemma Styles.... And yes, Harry was probably mad.

A guy meets this english girl, hence English Love Affair and powder white complexion. They meet at a bar and they start really liking each other fast. So much that they take it to the backseat of her car. That suggest that they start making out or they have sex. Then, the chorus is saying that the guy just can’t forget about her and their romance together. But affair is thrown in the title makes it seem like one of them are already in a relationship or marriage. But the affair part could just mean romance and there is no cheating.
-
It's about someone who's in England and they are in the club and they meet a girl who is English and basically have a one night stand then can't forget about them when they are back in there home town.

The song is about a boy or man who travels to America and gets drunk at a bar. He meets a girl and they end up having sex in her car. He has to go back home but he comes back and finds the girl again. They go back to her place and have sex in her bed. He can't forget about her. When he tells some of his friends they don't believe him. He has a girlfriend or wife back home so that's why it is an English Love Affair.
-
I read that this one was because ashton got a little affair with an english woman that was like 30 or older and yes lets cry.

It's basically about a teenage boy on tour with his band. They stop on their tour to England. On a weekend off, he meets a girl at a bar. They get drunk and have a one night stand. The band then has to move on from England and while he's gone he can't seem to get the girl out of his mind. At some point later on, the band goes back to England where he reunited with the girl and they go to a hideout where no one can find them. He then has to leave once again. The teenage boy is destraught. He feels he likes, even loves, this girl but at the same time he has someone back home he cares about aswell.(which is why he feels it is an affair.) The boy is confused. All he wants is the girl back uome but he also wants his 'English Love Affair'.
