5 Seconds of Summer: Social Casualty Meaning
Social Casualty Lyrics
La La La La La La Da Da
whooo
[Luke:]
Just a kid it's all the same
Growing up, it doesn't change
Who are they to try to put us down?
Had enough of what they say
Sick and tired of all their games,
Stand up and...

#1 top rated interpretation:A social casualty is being just another kid in a crowd. Someone who falls to standards and doesn't stick out. They don't take risk. It's what you are suppose to be. But in this song it means to take a chance and not care about the risk, be that kid that sticks out in a crowd, and that one kid that everyone knows who you are without even knowing you. Don't be afraid of being a reject, just be yourself and you'll be fine.

2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:I believe the song is mostly about how they don't want to be part of the big social circle. How they want to be their own person, to not be controlled by stereotypes and other people.
<3 My interpretation. -
3TOP RATED
#3 top rated interpretation:I think the song is about, standing up and being yourself. Not being afraid to not be popular.
-
the song is about not caring about what people want them to be. a doctor, an architect, a lawyer: "successful." they don’t want their life to be wasted because of other people’s standards and expectations of them ("don’t wanna be a VICTIM.") the word "authority" could mean "the majority", like they don’t wanna be a victim of a minority of people who think it’s funny to mock others, to judge them for what they like or who they want to be. "i’ll always be a part of the minority." means : i don’t care if i’m seen as uncool, as weird, as a REJECT. i will keep on being myself no matter what.
-
I think that its about being individual in what you do and not being defined by social standards or stereotypes.
-
I think this song is about overcoming the social status quo (or norm)Just my thoughts
-
I think it is about going against conformity and being your own person 5 SOS are "punk band" and this is, in my point of view a very punk song
-
I think what they're saying is they don't want to be held to a standard and be expected of things because they can't be sure to deliver on them.
-
(sorry about any grammar, I'm French) A social casualty is someone who is a stereotypical member of the social pyramid (generally around the top most section). They are those who relish in selfies, mainstream music, extremely popular fashion trends, etc. They are someone who is unoriginal, or just a copy of everyone else.
(My interpretation) -
it's about not being part of the norm. its about being who you are.
-
This song is all about being who you want to be and not following the people around you!!!!!!
i love this song -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
They dont want to be like everybody else. They want to stand out for something. They're wanting to be saved from becoming what they are suppose to be, what the world wants them to be. ❤ Hope it helped.
