5 Seconds of Summer: Old Me Meaning
Old Me Lyrics
And everything he showed me
Glad you didn't listen when the world was trying to slow me
No one could control me
Left my lovers lonely
Had to fuck it up before I really got to know me
Never a night alone
Anywhere you...
-
Old me starts with talking about always being surrounded by people, having one night stands, going out partying all night, having reckless fun and wondering later how you could keep doing that over and over again. The chorus starts with talking about how the world feels against you and how through the band, relationships are hard through touring and making music. Later talking about how mistakes forced him to pay for them but ultimately showed him the right ways to do things or to see things. The second verse goes into how the past shows how much you missed, let go, experienced and regrets. The bridge talks about this devil trying to take over the body, with the next line "ashes on the floor" referencing the phoenix bird that is consumed through fire and resurrected into new. Hopefully, this helps a little bit, don't know how much of this made sense but if someones reading this you're doing great and I hope you have an amazing day:)
