The way that I interpret this is that they remember a time when they were really happy. A summer night or a holiday when they remember actually enjoying life.

A guy remembers the time when he was a girl in San Francisco. They had a good time. They really connected. But, they went separate ways at one point. And he wishes that he could go back to San Francisco and got back to the wonderful memories he had with the girl. But I’ve read somewhere on the internet that Michael met a girl in San Francisco and she was dealing with problems. He distracted her from her problems. They connected. She even almost lost her virginity to him. But they went their separate ways. Is that true?

It's about a guy who was in a relationship with a girl and it was a really good relationship but it didn’t last. Like when it says the stuff about leaves falling from trees and mountains crumbling. A lot of the lyrics are like a flashback to their relationship.
