Blink-182: I Miss You Meaning
Song Released: 2004

I Miss You Lyrics
Hello there, the angel from my nightmare,
The shadow in the background of the morgue,
The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley
We can live like Jack and Sally if you want
Where you can always find me...

I think it's about a guy who is obsessed with a girl and she doesn't want him, 'you can always find me' interprets that the girl does know where he is but is choosing not to go because she doesn't like him like he likes her.
'I miss you' he is saying because he misses her and wants her with him, but sea left because he was so obsessed with her, and he's never got over her leaving him so now he's depressed 'cause he thought it was love, but the girl thought different. -
Okay so to clear all this up, this song was not written for someone who died. It's written for a girl that left him whom he was in love with. At a certain point he talks about "the indecision to call you/and hear your voice of treason." And at the beginning he refers to her as the "angel from my nightmare," meaning he stills loves her, but thinking of her is horribly hurtful to him (a nightmare). When he sings "don't waste your time on me/you're already the voice inside my head," he's saying that it's like she's still present, but he wishes she wasn't because she's already embedded in his memory. When he says "we could live like Jack and Sally" he is referencing The Nightmare Before Christmas, keeping up with the dark and depressing theme of the song that matches his emotions.
-
I think the part..."Don't waste your time on me your already the voice inside my head" possible means that he's reassuring someone that he loves and maybe away from. He's telling her not to waste time worrying about what he is doing while he is away because she is the only thing he thinks about it.
But that's just me. -
I think its about DJ Adam that passed away in 2011.
-
but he says "the voice inside my head" not "a voice inside my head".

all of you guys have this all all all wrong.. this song was written by travis barker, the drummer of the band, and wrote this for his ex-wife when they split up. Their wedding had a theme of Nightmare before Christmas so thats why he refers to Jack and Sally and have Halloween on Christmas... this song has nothing to do with death or someone dying.. its a song written for someone in particualar
-
I went away for a week and my friend told me to listen to this sing every night. Now I think he wants to be more than friends because I'm all he thinks about at night... Am I the voice inside his head?
-
From the music video..I think this song is actually about a guy and a girl going out and she ends up cheating on him (in the video she is with another girl) but they both still love each other very much. And he saying its to late and then she either tries or actually commits suicide. And he feels bad cuz he misses her. And he's saying how much he loves her.
-
"The shadow in the background of the morgue"
i think a way is he feels alone and darkness haunts him when he uses the word "in the background" he feels it just watching him silently but feeling that even in the background the darkness can still drown him.
-
blink 182 might had dedicated this song to someone specifically; but the song is about missing someone or something so badly; that it hurts. and it describes how that feeling eats you alive, part by part.

I think the song could be to do with how the Artist has just gotten so confused and is asking the person he sings of to stop messing with his head. This can be seen from the lyrics in the chorus;
"Don't waste your time,
On me,
You're already,
The Voice inside my head.
I miss You."
This indicates the artist is in a confusion of emotion and doesn't wish this person to interact with him anymore as he knows this will just spiral him into a much deeper pit of confusion.
The song however never indicates he is not friendly with the person he sings of as seen from the line
"The Angel of My Nightmare"
and
"We can live like Jack and Sally"
Implying that the artist sees this person as amazing but his life is far too messed up and confusing to completley understand it resulting in the first metaphor. The second simile may indicate that he has thought of a twisted future for him and this person as the characters Jack & Sally are also from the story, "The Nightmare before Christmas" which can also be heard from the line,
"We'll have Halloween on Christmas" -
Not sure if this was already said but I do recollect the lyrics "lets have halloween on christmas, we can live like jack and sally if we want" was in reference to Travis and his wifes relationship, just how it was so pure and loving and that theyd do anything to be with each other. Also I read that someone said something about The end of Violence, that letter being read aloud which leads into Stockholm Syndrome. I once heard/read that it was a letter Toms grandmother wrote to Toms grandfather while she was away in WW 2. Again not 100% sure about that but I do remember something along those lines. Anyways...amazing song and truly amazing cd all around. So glad they are back together.
