The Animal Lyrics

Now!

I can feel the animal inside
My resolve is weakening
Pounding at the doors of my mind
It's nearly overpowering
I cannot begin to describe
The hunger that I feel again
Run if you intend to survive
For the beast is coming to...

Yes and to the one telling everyone what churches teach.. you might want to actually go to or research the ideas of the people and groups before you tell them what their own thoughts and beliefs are on things. You obviously were speaking out of your own ignorance. There is obvious biblical symbolism in the video. Either you're blind or you refuse to believe the obvious if you deny it. Not saying it's good or bad but it's there.

This sounds to me like there's this animal-like thing inside him that he just can't control, just like in the songs "Monster" by Skillet and "Animal I Have Become" by Three Days Grace. Or you could always just go with the others' interpretations.
LOL I can just picture Bella watching Jacob transform into a werewolf to this song and freaking out.

Hey asshole, yeah the one who had that the church's definition of Satanism is completely false, well in REALITY it's CLEARLY true. Have you EVER LEARNED history you freakin' idiot? Satanism is the bullshit that causes people to become emos and to kill for no reason.
Did you think that they made that up in "Indiana Jones" and "The Road to El Dorado"? ALL AROUND THE WORLD there's archaeological evidence of mainly women and children being sacrificed. The extinct people groups of Latin America, all of Asia and even Australia did this because they were pagans. They'd pull out the organs of their victims while they were STILL alive and later BOIL them alive.
And it's not JUST in those or any Third World countries. Even Ireland and other parts of Europe have eyewitness accounts and historical findings of sacrifices before the "Saint-" Whoevers came along (Saint Francis of Asissi is one). Early Hawaiian pagans and other Oceanic did this too.
YOU just can't accept the facts and want to feel sheltered with your little demoniacal thoughts. It's sick bastards like you that make GOOD and DECENT people want to vomit their guts out.

Im confused on this as well. My gut feeling is that the song has a dark meaning, but I'm not sure. As for the other comments, I think the Bible clearly identifies who Satan is and the Bible is true, but I would also agree that most churches have been hi-jacked. They don't follow the Bible anymore, and they do try to control people. I love the song, but I get a dark feeling inside when I watch the video. The bloody cross on the head of the lamb just doesn't make me feel too peachy.

Not about Satanism? Than is it pure coincidence they chose a lamb's head and crown of thorns? Tell yourself it's not about it all you want, but it doesn't make it true. This is beyond creepy.

Disturbed isn't Satanic. But the song can sound like they are.
I think this songs has two good meanings. 1) They're talking about mass murderer and the only way for the madness to stop if one of them or both of themis dead.
    2) The most common believe: being a Werewolf or something with Satan

On my local radio station, TK 101, david was being intervied, and he said that the song was about a man slowly becomeing a warewolf, and all that medieval superstition. I mean he's talking about an animal that comes to life in the moonlight? I have no idea where these people are getting satanism out of this song, if anything it's about the mass hysteria of the medieval christians.
It's basicaly following the story of a guy who got bitten by a warewolf, and is slowly losing control of himself.

Hasn't anyone ever been so angry they could hardly control themselves? That's how I read the song. The "animal" is that primal anger reaching a point where you can't hold it anymore. You know it's wrong, you know you have to stop, but you can't, and it feels good... for a while.

Honestly I feel like this song is really thematically similar to "Animal I Have Become" by 3 Days Grace and "Monster" by Skillet. Three of my favorite songs...

Ok. enough of the religion crap, no need to bring arguments hundreds of years old onto the forum of an awesome song. Personally i agree with those who think its about the power one feels when shifting to the less human part of being a werewolf. Also, i see where the posts about suicide come into this.

i think that this is just about a guy who is waiting for a girl to finally have some more feelings for him,but if she doesn't all of his feelings for her will leave. also whoever thinks that the christanity religion makes up lies about satanisim is wrong. also u are going to hell. I'm a christian

Stop freaking out. David (the lead singer) is jewish. and the other band members are christian and then a pagan. And even if it was satanic who gives a flying fuck? Satanism isn't the bullshit the christian church will tell you. The christian churches definition of satanisim is completley false and meant to scare you from going to another religion because the church wants to control you. They have been lying since the start of christianity, and will allways lie.

Satanism introduces you to the power of your mind and spirit. There is NO sacrifice of little kids or any of that other bullshit. The church shelters there people from this power because they don't want people becoming more powerful than the church.

The song meaning however has never been understood. if you did some digging I bet you could find what you were looking for though.

I really really do not want to think that disturbed is satanic but the video and lyrics are saying otherwise.
When he says the animals soul is mine he is talking about the beast (666). i would really like some help on the interpretation.
