Disturbed: Haunted Meaning
Haunted Lyrics
I'm better off alone
No one to turn to
And nothing to call my own
Outspoken so am I
Explosive words that your world wouldn't understand
Turn away again
You're beaten so am I
I've got a heart of stone
No medication...

#1 top rated interpretation:to me he's talking about how this world he lives in is a lie and is trying to escape but can't hince"your angered so am I a thousand fires burn from a land of darkness from which I cannot return" which means he will never leave here, then when he says"your broken so am i i'm better off alone no one to turn to and nothing to call my own" which implies there is nothing for him here as theres no one he can trust like when he says"Remember and you might be welcomed amoungst the hauntless monsters you surround yourself with Feeding off the pain and misfortune of others
A maniacle universe of human parasites warped into a feeding frenzy at the smell of fresh blood Open your eyes and see the creatures for what they are" which is telling us of our true nature one which he is haunted by that which is our world. -
I believe that this is a representation of social media and the news, as he says, "you'll never be welcomed amongst the heartless monsters you surround yourself; feeding off the pain and misfortune of others; a maniacal breed of sub-human parasites, thrown into a feeding frenzy at the smell of fresh blood. Open your eyes to see the creatures for what they are: a swirling mess of hatred and envy. Don't be naive enough to think you are unaffected; the conversion has already begun." This is talking about, in my mind, the fact that no one is willing to admit that they are corrupted and that they are constantly being forced into new and different worlds, some they like, most they don't. If you don't accept my theory, then fine. I just wanted to put my opinion out there.

In all honesty, this song shows alot of emotion and misfourtine. I beleive that is pertaines to a break up with a lover or a close friend who you gave the world to and did so much for, but that person maniaculy broke your heart and you feel that you cannot return to your formor self because you are haunted by the damage, the fear, and the insanity of said person's world.

Personally I believe that the song's meaning is about a former romantic relationship with a woman. Draiman is tormented by memories of his pas lover. However, it seems that something went very wrong, and despite regrets, he is hesitant of returning to the past, as he doesn't want to get involved in a world he abhors. Even his dreams are haunted by images of the past or alternatives of what could have been, yet once awoken, he remembers and stays true to his current position.
He is confused, and realizes that he can no longer feel love and comfort the same way as he did before, yet in such a violent way that he feels his blood turning to ice, destroying the purity of his emotions and his very soul.
He isn't the only one in this difficult condition, as the feeling is mutual. Both he and his former romantic interest still love each other, but once their two different world meet, they collide, ending badly on both sides.
This might be a result of her past that enrages him. Therefore, he feels like fleeing from the past itself, yet the past still clings like a bad wound. -
Personally, I think the meaning of this song is better understood when compared to bullying. Anyone who is friends with bullies can easily be corrupted by their influence, and so become like them.

I always thought this song was about how god would view his biggest mistake: us.

You're all wrong! David wrote it about his time living in L.A., about how everybody there were only happy when you were miserable.
He said so himself. Man, you have some strange interpretations. -
This song shows the band Disturbed truly is indeed disturbed. The theme is the darkness that Draiman sees in everyday life spreading to everyone and everything. Notice how he verses show him becoming a cold blooded monster, and in the chorus he pins the blame on the world. towards the middle of the song he openly expresses his hatred for the evil in everyone's hearts that he can see plain as day. He suggests that no one is void of this evil, and the point of the song is that he is literally haunted by the evil of man, not sure of how to dal with it much longer without losing sight of himself.

this song was made because when the singer went to Chicago he found that everyone fed off of others pain and misery

I think this song is talking about demons taking over the world like vampires. My blood is cold as ice or so I have been told show no emotion and it can destroy your soul. Remember and you might be welcomed amongst the heartless monsters you surround yourself with feeding off the pain and misfortune of others a maniacal unit of sub-human parasites warped into a feeding frenzy at the smell of fresh blood
open your eyes and see the creatures for what they are a swirling mess of hatred and envy don't be naive enough to think you're unaffected the conversion has already begun
