Disturbed: Prayer Meaning
Song Released: 2002
Prayer Lyrics
Just to compliment your sorrow
Another life that I've taken from you
A gift to add on to your pain and suffering
Another truth you can never believe
Has crippled you completely
All the cries you're...

#2 top rated interpretation:if you listen to the special DVD thing on the believe album, David himself says that the song is about the book of Job, and how god takes everything away from him. David is simply saying that living his life isn't hard enough, and he wants to test his faith by asking god to take everything away.

3TOP RATED
#3 top rated interpretation:This is a religious song, but it is also about his grandfather. However, it is not about the Christian faith exclusively, if at all, as David was born into a Jewish family. It's actually about a conversation between David and God david saying "Throw everything you've got at me, I can take it," and yes, he also mentioned it was based on the Book of Job

This song JC used as his inspiration to take back what is his! Above and below! They were torturing him and all he wanted was a simple life a fair shake but they wouldn’t stop! So he is here ! And he won! Don’t let no one tell you any different! You are free now!

A very sincere prayer to The Heaven for guidance .

So... God create ed BOTH light and dark. If any one can stand and understand our anger, it's God. There Are many things we can learn from dark. I don't believe God needs to test us. Life happens. We are free.

I don't know. I read that he meant that nothing he would ever do would be meaningful. I really listen to the music with a spiritual ear. I mean art is about perception, your perspective not the artists. Everyone had different issues. That's why i believe . . . because life is hard it would be cruel to put a human through this life without a reward at the end. I was taught that when evil has you it will leave you alone because it knows it has you. When you are being tested then you have choice return to me . . . never leave me . . . or give in to evil. I had someone say something to me that i found inspiring when I was going through a test of fire . . . "never accept defeat". It was my aunt we were praying together and she said those three simple words. But, sometimes I don't want to get out of bed, but I can't let it defeat me. "Just keep walkin' on" Faith Hill "You don't have to fret or fear children keep walking on". Anytime music and lyrics can get people to thinking . . . something meaningful has been done . . . keep doing what your doing . . . it means something . . . "NEVER ACCEPT DEFEAT". FYI Christians were adopted into the house of Abraham through the blood of Christ and by faith. I don't like the division. It bothers me . . . pray for guidance and it will come from the most unexpected places. The Law tells us what sin is and how to recognize it . . . Christ asks us as Christians to abide by the Law, but let God do your battle. Don't take things your own hands when you are being tested . . . Return to me and never leave me . . . turn it over to the Lord. Amen

this song is simply about a man having a conversation with god asking how his grandfather who just passed away is doing and the answer is burning him alive inside. disturbed is not part of the Illuminati he is a Jew and is obviously not a satanist whoever came up with that idea is an imbecile disturbed is a nu metal band lead by david druiman a jew

The song speaks for itself. Life is hard, living is hard. Its like we are on our own with no divine intervention. Pointless to believe in something that doesnt aid you (you make me turn away)
Whats up with all this illuminate bullshit comments..... -

I'm not going to speak about the interpretation because it's pretty damn clear anyway, I'm just going to state, David is of Jewish descent. Any religious connotations in this song would therefore be to do with Jewish faith.
-
he slightly changes words in the hook and that's what makes the song. At first he blames good for everything by saying YOU make me turn away. That's clearly saying that God is to blame for things that have happened to him. Later he says they, which is extremely important in this song. When he states THEY make you turn away, indicating that God isn't who is making him turn away but yet its other people and himself who cause the problem

God does not punish people for their sins until judgement day. you bring hate and crap on yourself because you sin, and David is a christian i have talked to him before.

OR all of this is false,
And its a song designed to inspire you.
To motivate you, to realize there are going to be obstacles in life that you must tackle over,
To inheritly brainwash you to a point in which "Living life isn't hard enough"
To push yourself to further challenges, and actually SEEK challenge.
"Bring to life everything you fear"
Rather than live obliviously as there are SO many things in life that you will have to be ready for to overcome, and to take them headstrong.
"live in the dark and the world is threatening"
Realize that life is not in "your favor"
and that you are going to have to continue pushing yourself further and further through your limits, and realize the friends that are "friends" are also your competition in life. -
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCKOxe9z7hU) Here's the exact meaning of the song straight from Disturbed. Most people here are completely wrong. This song is basically about holding on to hope, and making through hardships, and using where ever you get your strength from.(God, yourself or what ever)
