Five Finger Death Punch: Far from Home Meaning
Song Released: 2010
Far from Home Lyrics
Another nights settles in as quickly as it goes
The memories are shadows ink on the page
And I can't seem to find my way home
And it's almost like
Your heaven's trying everything
Your heaven's trying...

I thought it was about falling in love with some one who doesn't love you and you are forced to live with the pain of never connecting with that person in the true way you feel. You end up knowing its unchangable but you still are trapped

Homer's Odyssey. Odysseus, away from his homeland to fight/lead in the Trojan War, experiences a decade-long return voyage to his homeland. Along the way, a host of greek gods come in and out of the story, essentially dragging out the process and making Odysseus' life a living hell.
"your heaven's trying everything, your heaven's trying everything to keep me down." -
I think this song could be about someone watching a loved one suffer from some sort of addiction (I.e. drugs). This addiction, in turn, is keeping this person from having a good/stable relationship with the said addict. "your heaven's trying everything to keep me out." Watching the person wither and atrophy as a result of this addiction is breaking this person.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Song is defently about a soldier at war, defending his country n knows he's fighting to make it home, n he feels God is keeping from gettin home cuz he's tryin to do the rite thing... Sumthin like that lol
-
i think it has to do with war and iraq with the soldiers not being able to come home to see their family/friends.
whatch this video and you will understand: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBMT3OMEPwk -
i think the part "your heavens trying to keep me out" ts kinda makes me think that he is in the war or somwere bad but god is keeping him living and not ded

I've always been sorta good at interpreting lyrics in a song. I honestly think that this is, in a way, supposed to be about ALL of what you say. When a music artist writes, sings, releases a song, they might have personal reasons for doing so (as with this one, I feel.) Many times, they'll say that they want you to interpret it the way it touches you most. Whatever meaning speaks to you when it comes to the lyrics, is what it means....to YOU. To someone else it might be something entirely different, depending on their past & pain. But, if you are an empathetic person, you can easily read the lyrics & see it from their view as well as yours, it'll make sense.

This is related to the life we all lead. From main stream media tellings us to live their way and the church telling us something different. 5FDP has always been able to put life as we all see it into a perspective that the bullied kid to the American Solider can relate to. The suburban house wife to the clergy that has doubts. They have a strong tie to the Armed Forces and know what it takes to be there and here too. I know that many can relate to these songs and I know for my own reason it is from not being able to be home with the memories that haunt my mind here on the main land.I too can say that tears well up and the breathing becomes quickened when this song comes on, but I fight back the emotions and realize that I'm finally home....

I believe it is about a Combat Veteran who is coping with PTSD. He/she comes home after seeing what only few have seen and tries to have a normal life. However, all the events and actions he/she still haunt the Veteran, causing him/her to feel isolated from the world.
From a religious standpoint because of what the Veteran has done, he/she may feel like God (or whoever the Veteran believes in) will not accept him/her in the afterlife. -
clearly the line "your heavens trying everything to break me down" is what is causing confusion. I feel this is referring to the muslim extremest view of heaven, and suicide bombers that american soldiers have to deal with every day.

i think you all are right. i believe the artist left it open enough to relate to a broad crowd. i don't know too much about the group's background, though.

I can see where you all are going with the soldier stuff, but I think it's totally different. I think it is about someone who isn't accepted where he calls home. So he is shunned and turned away from his life. This person also can't find his place anywhere in the world, and all he wants is to be back in where he called home, but the people won't let him. Hence the lyrics "Your heaven is trying everything to keep me out," and the lyrics, "And I can't seem to find my way home," show how he doesn't know where to go from there. I love this song, and I feel like this song reflects my life in a way, so that's why I think that is what it means.
