Flyleaf: All Around Me Meaning
Song Released: 2007
All Around Me Lyrics
My arms are outstretched towards you
I feel you on my fingertips
My tongue dances behind my lips for you
This fire runs in through my being
Burning I'm not used to seeing you
I'm alive, I'm alive
I can...

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

this song is about a girl who isnt used to seeing people in close confinement and thinks she is alone when someone farts. she can "feel (them) all around me, thickening the air i'm breathing..." she cant breath and is "holding on to what she's feeling" meaning she is losing conscioucness because the fart was so volumous. she is crying as the door opens and she sees the light from the lobby and screams "I'm alive!"... pseudorhetorical analysis' are fun ;)

While I KNOW the song is about God, it can also be interpreted in different walks of life, and scenarios.
For me this song is about the feeling of a new found love. From someone who has been beaten down, pushed aside and forgotten what it is like to be loved.
The angels saying say we are alone- even though it is meant for a god like moment- It could also (and does for me) reference to the magical forces of nature feeling that is felt when true love is realized and brought to life to a person. Because when you are with THE one, it is exactly as this song describes. -
This song is not what you think it is about. it is about a girl that gets buried alive. and the whole time she is singing she is talking being in the coffin. than her man saving her in the end. she talks about what it will be like when he finds her. and she shouts that she is alive. and that she can feel you all around me means that people are stepping over her grave. thats why she says thickening the air im breathing because as you step over the coffin you are giving her less air.

She is singing about God but in a way that can be interpreted as singing to a lover, so that even non-believers will not have a problem listing to their music. Flyleaf could be in a genre of christian music but their songs could have many other interpretations...
-
I believe its about god but depending on how you look at the song, it could also be about love of course the bridge 'I'm Alive' part hints back to god.
-
Honestly, I don't think this song has anything to do with god. I think it has to do with a lover, or dancing with something, but god? ehm, no.
-
I think the song is about masturbation. i think it's about how she discovered it but she feels dirty and guilty every time she performs the act because of the close relationship she has with god. pay close attention to lyrics like "secret place."

Uh, guys let's think of this bluntly here. Just because they could be a christian band doesn't me we have to relate to every line about god. This song has another very obvious meaning here:
She's obviously singing about the boy she loves. In the first verse her arms are reaching out to him, tongue dancing in anticipation to make out. Fire (love) burning through her body, now she feels alive.
In the chorus, she feels him around her, holding her. The atmosphere's getting hot and heavy ( thickening the air I'm breathing) Her wounded heart is healing, she feels at peace when she's with him.
Second verse: HE WHISPERED HE LOVES HER (does god do that? NO) she begans to drift into that zone(place) with her boyfriend.
"The music makes me sway" This is suggesting they holding each other, slow dancing. She could see angels, giving them their blessing.
Then she gives her hand, believing he'll never leave her. He taught her to be herself -
hey Jade, you are so not right. flyleaf is a CHRISTIAN band not a stupid non-believers band...follow Jesus and believe that he is the ONLY son of God. and this song is about God not about carnal love
-
This song is NOT about her religion. It's about a relationship. that relationship is with God, not a person. the tongue portion could be her struggling to expres her pain to God or her love for Him, I know I have trouble with that.Either way she is talking to God. And it is a loe song, every praise and worship song, in fact every christian song is a love song to God.
-
She's probably talking about God and how she embraces him. If you look at the lyrics you can see how it all fits together into this cataegory. Like when she says "I can feel you round me" Many people feel as when thay call upon god they get this chill all over there body, when there hair stands up on there neck, or when there senses numb and they feel complete happiness and a sence of security. Or when she says "you said you will never leave me I believe you I believe-" Thats also stating how God gave her an iternal promise to stay by her side forever.
-
Ok to the people that are saying "why would her tongue be dancing behind her lips for god" this is talking about an extreme experience in meeting god and feeling him all around you. Wouldn't that be a bit overwhelming to be in the presence of the almighty lover thae all powerful creator and the omnipotent LORD OF THE UNIVERSE? I wouldn't be able to control my self I would have such a welling up of emotion and pure and clean joy in knowing I was safe and home for ONCE and that I could be truly and completey happy. I have and do see flyleaf as a simple band to interpret but to those who can't even get a simple band such as this what are you even doing here?
-
It's about accepting Christianity. This band is very easy to interpret (the last line "this healed heart" gave it away).
-
the part where she says my tounge dances behind my lips for you means that she is speaking in tounges to god it happens in pnecoastal churches. im in one
