Flyleaf: All Around Me Meaning
Song Released: 2007
All Around Me Lyrics
My arms are outstretched towards you
I feel you on my fingertips
My tongue dances behind my lips for you
This fire runs in through my being
Burning I'm not used to seeing you
I'm alive, I'm alive
I can...
-
Definitely about God. As for the tongue dancing behind your lips, that would be when the act of speaking in tongues when the holy spirit descends upon you and speaks through you. I love this band so much, it makes me realize how much I love god and how he'll always be there for me, loving me in his caring arms

I think that this song is not only about how much she is in love and thankful for God, but if you think about it...with all the stuff she's been through (and in my opinion) she could be talking about her reborn self. The part of her that came out of the tragedy or 'near death' experience whether it be physically, emotionally, or mentally. You never know, my thinking is just that she's grateful to be reborn within herself. To lead the life SHE feels like she's meant to lead through God and whatever other actions she sees fit.

The "you said you would never leave me I believe you, I believe" is not about a guy, it's about God, because God will never leave you no matter what.
And as far as the genre goes they are Alternative Metal
Alternative Rock Christian Rock, Post Grunge
but they are a Christian Band. All of there songs are related to God in someway or another, if you can't find it then you're not looking hard enough. -
I know it's about god but I like to think that it's about this girl who loves her boyfriend with everything she has but then her boyfriend dies.so she is heart broken. but then she can feel him with her everywhere she goes. and now she's "savoring this heart that's healed"
-
It's not just about god. It's an eye opening experience about how god saved her from an addiction. before this she was a amethisit be the neofite ghost that appeared as to be god made her change forever.

The ones who said you don't like songs about god then why are you listening to Flyleaf.
This song is about God cause I mean I am Christian and I can tell that it is just by watching her perform she lifts her hands up all the time that's what people do when they are praising/worshiping God in song.
Gods love feels like its all around you once you learn to recognize it some of you may not know the feeling I hope you will some day but, its pretty powerful you feel it 24/7 and it feels thick and heavy and it just makes it obvious this song is about that love. -

I think the part where it says my tongue dances behind my lips is the interpretation of speaking in tongues.
-
"This is a praise and worship song. They are speaking of the feeling of being close to God when she is in a state of praise with outstretched hands. This is a common practice of worship in many Christian denominations such as the pentacostal church."
- I actually got the impression it was more of her experience finding God and submitting herself to God, after she was lost and tried to commit suicide. -
I know this song is about God and the feeling he gives when you just believe. Ive been saved for about a year and in that year I learned so much and this song really ministered to me. I even sang it at church. Its a very heart warming song for all believers young and old. no matter what you go through God will NEVER leave you! "You said you would never leave me I believe you I believe"

I think this song is about someone she loved that died. And even though she can't see them she still feels like they are with her. And at the end of the song it is her dying and being together with that person she lost. But I don't really know that's just what it means to me.
-
The part with "My tongue dances behind my lips for you" might be relation to Pentecostal worship where when one receives the Holy Spirit, the sign that shows that they receive the Holy Ghost (Ghost and Spirit mean the same thing) is they begin to speak in another language that they've never learned. Check out the book of Acts for anymore info on the Holy Spirit.
