Flyleaf: All Around Me Meaning
Song Released: 2007
All Around Me Lyrics
My arms are outstretched towards you
I feel you on my fingertips
My tongue dances behind my lips for you
This fire runs in through my being
Burning I'm not used to seeing you
I'm alive, I'm alive
I can...

You people are rediculous.
Of course it's talking about God.
Lacey and the boys are Christians and they wrote and sing Christian music.
"my tongue dances behind my lips for you" means she's praying.
Duh.
Talking in tongues?
Seriously?!
Think before you talk next time. This is ludicrous. -
All of these people saying "if you can't see that this is about god, you're not looking hard enough" are blinded. The fact is that people see (and hear) what they want. The reason you see it related to god is because you are looking at it that way. People can listen to this and think of someone they love, not just god.
-
This song is NOT about god. It is about someone that she loved that has passed away. "the angles singing say they are alone with you, I am alone and they are too with you" shes alone here on earth with out him and "the loved one" is up in heaven with the angles. Also if you listen to her sing it on youtube live she says "Im alive, still alive" she's still alive and would rather be with the one she loves that has passed away. Although i was excited when i heard it was about god, but after reading the lyrics it is obviously not.

This song shows her deep feelings for her boyfriend who died in the Afghanistan War. She loves him and feels him in the room and in the depths of her soul. She loved him very much. he is gone yet there somehow. She strongly wishes he was still alive. To all of you who think its about God, people dont have tongue sensations for God, unless they love him a little too much. This is clearly about her boyfriend and she is grieving his death because they were , according to this song, engaged to be married, but he never returned to marry this lovely lady. So here lies the truth about the alleged song, all around me, and the time she went to the graveyard , where she came up with this song feeling his spirits wrath .

This song is about how Lacy's life turned around from drugs, pain, missery to faith, love, hope.

In this video lacy explains what she went through and how she became her self. -
i thought this was a love kind of song. but now that i read your posts i get what your saying about how its about worshipping the lord.
I LOVE FLYLEAF!!!!!!! -
I think the song is about going to heaven and meeting GOD.

This sons is absolutly NOT about God. This song is secretly about the book Twilight and Edward Cullen and Bella Swan's relationship throughout the series. They're in love so it's a love song but there is the part where the lyrics say "You said you would never leave me, I believe you, I believe" is when Edward leaves Bella and she's depresssed thinking about it.
Read the book and you'll understand.
God ... pffft .. Edward Cullen IS God. -
"My hands are searching for you
My arms are outstretched towards you
I feel you on my fingertips"
it's how pentacostals like myself worship
"My tongue dances behind my lips for you
This fire rising through my being
Burning I'm not used to seeing you"
is talking about the holy ghost and speaking in other tongues. Which is a very difficult thing to explain unless you yourself has received it. It is utterly amazing <3 -
I KNOW the song is about her almost killing herself, and then she prayed w/ a pastor and felt God all around her, and she didn't want to kill herself.

search the word suicide
additionally, my friend was at a concert and she said that Lacey said that was what the song was about. -
Okay, I was at a flyleaf concert last night. The song all around me is about Lacey wanting to commit suicide, but then her thinking about it, and completely understanding that she was put on this earth for a reason and then she realizes that everything is going to be okay sooner or later. Then she realizes that god's arms are "outstretched towards her" so she doesn't commit suicide.
-- she explained it to everyone in the audience, before they performed it. -
This song is definitely about God...towards the middle of the song Lacey says things like "the angels sing" and "and I begin to fade into our secret place" secret place meaning heaven "the light is white,I see you there" people say that when you die you see a white light, then you see god.
"burning I'm not used to seeing you" meaning, she has never seen God,and the light is burning her eyes I guess. I think this song might be a bout a near death experience where she believes she might have actually made it to Heaven, but God decides it is not yet her time, because she does talk about seeing him.it is also possibly about a dream that she had about a message god sent her. -
This whole song is about submerging ones self into faith and catching the 'holy ghost'... In other words her love for god grows so strong she finally feels fully alive as she goes deeper and deeper into it and how she progressively shows that love, from raising the hands, to crying to speaking in tounges(toung dancing) to being so celebratory that the air is thickening(harder to breathe) to hearing god and angels
Its obvious, and beautiful, no matter how you feel about religion this song is genius for real
