Flyleaf: All Around Me Meaning
Song Released: 2007
All Around Me Lyrics
My arms are outstretched towards you
I feel you on my fingertips
My tongue dances behind my lips for you
This fire runs in through my being
Burning I'm not used to seeing you
I'm alive, I'm alive
I can...

To the person who said this:
I think the "it's about god" interpretation is pretty strong, but I have one question: what's with the line "my tongue dances behind my lips for you"? How do you pray by dancing your tongue behind your lips? To me this line sounds sexual, like she's licking her lips in lust for someone, but secretly. Any theories?
"my tongue dances behind my lips for you"
She's singing in praise to him. It may sound sexual but its not. -
That would make sense too..but either way they ARE a christian band that's there "religion" and that's there music genre there @ Acquire the fire, lifelight, plus a lot of other christian events and they proclaim there love for God in there songs...I'm pretty sure its also their genre.
-
I'm pretty sure that it saying "my tongue dances behind my lips for you" because she's singing to God...i mean, your tongue moves wen you sing...like its dancing...and so she probably means that she's worshiping and singing...or even praying too...I'm sure its not about lust...
-
Close your mouth keep your lips shut and pretend your talking...isnt your tounge kind of "dancing" she's prolly praying when she says that. She's praying to and for God...hence "my tounge dances behind my lips for you"
-
This song is about god and belief. Yes they are christian, but that is there religion not the type for music they play... That's from Lacey's own lips not mine....

It's about how they feel when they praise god, how they can feel the power of him flowing through them...Its about finally being able to break down that last wall and trust what they can't see, "you said you would never leave me, I believe you, I believe" about finally being bale to trust god with what they held closed and safe for so long.
But then again, as corey taylor says, lyrics can be about anything, depending on your own opinion. -
Ok people. Yes, they are a chririan band but that does not in any way mean that every song they write is going to be absolutely about god with no exeptions. Lacey has been through a pretty hard life and so have the other guys, I'm sure they have other things to write about. And in fact they don't even catagorize themselves a christian rock. They sing about there beliefs most definetly, but about other things as well.
-
It’s obvious that this song is about God. Can’t see it about anything else but.
-
I think this song is about God. and how she's happy with what she has.
"I'm alive, I'm alive"
she thankful for what god has given to her. and she believes he will be with her forever.
"I believe you, I believe -
Okay, here it goes for all thos who are thinking it's about a guy: you're fucking wrong, it's about god. It's a christian band, people!
-
This is a praise and worship song. They are speaking of the feeling of being close to God when she is in a state of praise with outstretched hands. This is a common practice of worship in many Christian denominations such as the pentacostal church.
-
Yes it's about God... you don't like songs about God? Too bad.
