Wonderwall Lyrics

By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now
Backbeat the word is on the street

So...as personal as interpretation will always get here's my take. As I am going through a divorce right now I feel as if I am realizing alot of things about my "true love" that I never saw. So..."I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now" to me means that you've sorted through all the B.S. and all the sudden that true love is a fraud. "There are so many things that I would like to say to you but I don't know how." seems like that moment when you've finally summoned the balls to tell someone off and then chicken out.
To me...in the end the song is positive because the chorus feels like a release and that maybe freeing yourself from a damaging relationship will save you.
Cool to see so many interpretations of the song. Shows the power of good music! -
the song is actually nothing to do with love- It's a song about friendship...
from noel's own words...
"The meaning of that song was taken away from me by the media who jumped on it. And how do you tell your Mrs. it's not about her once she's read it is? It's about an imaginary friend who's going to come and save you from yourself."
:) -
Why would it be about saving u from urself?????? U can survive by yourself... saving someone from themself is giving them company?
-
Who gives a fuck what is originally intended a lot of us want to believe it's about a relationship of some sort ................ make it your own!!!!!!
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
It's about love at 14.
-
I first heard this song the day that my 14 year old best friend passed away in a car accident on our way to a basketball game. My interpretation on this song is much different than others because the time of my life that I first heard it but I see it as someone who is being left by someone close to them facing death and having people talking about it all around them. Also the song talks about the roads being winding to me that's about the road of greif that I was going through
-
umm. ok so my best friends dad died.. and his brother whos 24 sang this song and played the guitar to it. i feel like this song is about a missed chance that you will never be able to get back.
-
While I agree with most of the other interpretations on this site, I'd just like to say that I also think this song might be about the Wailing Wall (or Western Wall) in Jerusalem. It might sound dumb at first but its not; the more and more I listen to this song the more and more it seems like it is.
What do you think? -
I always reckoned it was about Liam. Liam thinks it's about him, too.
To be slightly more clear, it seems to be to be about someone who might save you or might let you down- or you might save them or let them down- but they will always be there in the end.
Allegedly when the Gallaghers were young they referred to their bedroom wall, covered in graffiti, posters and other things, as their wonderwall. -
Walls have a tendency to be thought about in a negative sense, as something being behind the wall that limits you from getting it, but this is a Wonder wall: something that protects you from the outside world. The WALL is difficult to bear: when you feel you have to protect your heart so heavily, it's difficult to explain things, and you expect others to know what you need them to do without telling them. At the same time, you can feel a burning passion towards somebody that simply can't be explained by words, and with a wall between you there's no way to even try. The subject of the song also has a Wall around their heart, so it's easy to mistake that they have no passion, since they can't really explain what they feel either. The only people that can save either the singer or the subject are themselves, but since they share the Wonderwall delima, they can help each other, (if only they could communicate!)

Guy singing about a girl or best friend
"Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you shoulda, somehow, realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now"
i think this means that there is a bad rumor about her/best friend and she/he feels like finally standing up for themself about all the bad stuff in their life. despite everything the singer (noel) still feels for her/him, while everyone else has given up.
"Back beat, the word is on the street that the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before but you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now"
she is in a relationship and it's not working out. Her boyfriend treats her badly and she doesn't feel anything towards him anymore and everyone can see it. people used to tell her that it wasn't going to work out and she agreed but never showed it. Her friend still loves her.
"And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how"
even though all this bad stuff is happening to both of them, they are going to stick together, he will always e by her side. He wants to tell her how he feels but the words won't come out the way he wants them to.
"Because maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall"
his life isn't working out the way he wants it to either and he believes that she can save him from all the bad things even though no one believes in her anymore.
"Today was gonna be the day but they'll never throw it back to you
By now you shoulda somehow realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now"
she went to confront people about the things going around and it didn't go the way she imagined it, she lost the courage to stick up for herself, but he still feels the same way about her.
"And all the roads that lead you there were winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how"
trying to be close to her was hard to accomplish but he never gave up and he wants to tell her how he feels about her but he still can't get the words out.
"I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall
I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall
I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me"
he has faith in her and belives she can help him fix his life and in the process, fix her own. -
Straight from an interview with Noel.
It's a song about an imaginary friend who's gonna come and save you from yourself.

I meet this guy that I had known for a few years for real for the first time. He's so amazing that I can't describe how I feel in words. Its just not possible. When I herd this song I thought of us. " Backbeat the word was on the street That the fire in your heart is out". Josh, that's his name, had ended a 4 year relationship and I felt that this line kinda showed that he was kinda of done with bullshit that he had been through and I felt like the fire in his heart was out. But now with us knowing each other I don't think anyone will ever like him the way I do know. That old relationship doesn't matter anymore. The same had happened to me but we found each other in a a way that just seems right. "There are many things that I would Like to say to you I don't know how." Josh leaves me speechless Im not a very quite person but when I'm near him its as if there's no need for words but there is still so much I want to say. Josh is going to be the one that saves me and I him. I think we're both eachothers wonderwall.
