Three Days Grace: I Hate Everything About You Meaning
Song Released: 2003
I Hate Everything About You Lyrics
After every hit we take
Every feeling that I get
But I haven’t missed you yet
Every roommate kept awake
By every sigh and scream we make
All the feelings that I get
But I still don't miss you yet
Only when I...

The song is basically about a young adult or older teenager (17,18)who is questioning the "love" that is supposed to exist between the teenager and his/her parent(s) ("Why do I love you?"). If you listen carefully to the lyrics, everything can be directly related to the anger and mild hatred of teenagers toward their parents through unfairness and common disputes between the two.

okay the song Animal I Have Become IS about his addiction. but the song I Hate Everything About You is NOT about his addicton. It is about a relationship...why do you think the video shows couples? it shows one girl cheating on this guy: dating relation. of course it could be related in some sense to some sort of addiction cuz the father going haywire on his kid(im assuming its his kid) and it shows the kid throwing a bottle of Whiskey(totally guessing at what it is) at the wall. so it could be that he hates his fathers addiction but loves his father. Now i'm not ragging on anyone who thinks its about addiction. Because if that's how people relate this song, then thats how they take it. Adam Gontier orginially wrote this song about bad relationships with ex's. it says so in one of his interviews.
-
many of adam gontier (lead singer of 3dg) went to drug rehab and wrote a lot of songs in there which were related to his addiction.
-
It's about cheating in relationships, abusive/alcoholic parents and sexual abuse (?? not so sure about that). In the video, the girlfriend was cheating on the guy in the car and he hated her for that but couldn't keep himself from still being in love with her. The dad on the sofa is an alcoholic who first yelled at the dog (lol poor doggy) and then hit his son, who is the blond long-haired dude. I THINK the chick with the short brown hair and her shirt off was either harassed by her boyfriend into having sex or was sexually abused by the dude. The kids walking through the fog and onto the field were "victims" of such things, which led to them being the audience for the song being preformed on the field.

My interpretation is that of a child / parent relationship and how even when our parents do us major wrong and we hate them for it we can't help but love them because love for our parents is biological. probably not the real meaning but that's how I interpret it.
-
I believe that the song means, simply that he loves "her" but she keeps cheating on him.yet he keeps coming back
-
Don't mean to be nasty or owt but do you people even try and find the meaning on wikipedia or something?? Most people on here are right...about the whole loving someone but hating them because they have done something to you like abused you or cheated on you... ahhh well everyone has their own opinions

METH

Alright, they are a straight edge band. The lyrics can be argued about a drug addiction. I'm stating what I think, and I think its about his love for a girl, but the lyrics can be turned around. He might of made it to be interpretted in other ways so it can understood by drug users. Thats how I thought about it.
-
Some people on here are pretty much retarded. This song has nothing to do with the lead singer and his addiction. He doesn't even have one! and I agree with the girl way up there^^^^ whoever said that is WRONG. fucking idiot.
-
I think that the song might have two meanings. I think that the first one is that he hates everything about drugs, the bad things they do to you, yet he loves them cuz of the nicotine addiction. It might also be that he hates everything about a girl, yet he doesnt know why he loves her.
-
You guys the meaning of this song talks about how someone as hurt you a lot but you still love them. you hate the things they do and what they do to you and all you want is a reason why you love them. It very hard to understand why you love someone because you can hate everything they do and everything they are but yet you still love them that's what the song is explaining I know this because I'm in love with someone who I can not stand but still love them.
-
It is about his dad abusing him and his sister - hence every "hit" we take.
-
It could mean several different things, a hit can be a hit of smoke (marijuana maybe crack/anything), a hit of acid, hit meaning sex, with someone that he might hates and loves. whatever it is, he loves it and hates it at the same time, and keeps coming back.
-
I agree with the person that said this song seems like meth addiction, that they are referring to but I have always interpreted it as a relationship of two people who were suffering from an addiction, and what the addiction has done to them as a couple... etc
I don't know what the song was meant to be about but that is how I have always thought of it and related to it.
Love this song!
