   I was thinking that the song was about how we'd all love to live in a perfect world. How great everything would be. The problem is that in a perfect world, we wouldn't really be able to do anything/ everything we want. We might feel like we were just 'like robots, going through the motions'.
   For example, if we were in a perfect world and I felt like doing something mean (maybe even just a simple practical joke on a friend), it might hurt them or hurt their feelings. In this case, we wouldn't be able to do those things. If who I am is based on my free will, would that mean that it 'kills the ideal of who we are'.
   Any other thoughts?

   I think this song is about a foster child.

   It shines in the dark and it grows within me
   (The child wants to live alone, they don't want to have to rely on others.)

   (Everyone says they get it, they say they understand what you're going through, but there's no way they can. They don't really get it.)

   (The child dreams of a perfect person, a perfect romance, the cure to the problems of everyone.)

   i agree with person above... haowever, i cant undertansd why at your wedding when you have just stated what you think it means...? also, can i add, the video has some crumbling walls. so to go with your idea of, the world we are in is utopia but its the things in the world that make it how it so crap, its almost as if the crumbling walls represent the utopia of the world collapsing.

   (Lol I submitted the lyrics... I love this song sooooo much)
   I can find two meaning in the song.
   The first meaning is perhaps about a troubled relationship. How when they are together they're so happy it's utopia, but there are bumps in the road.
   The second and much more touching meaning (the one I accept as true) coincides with the MV. Its about how the world is a utopia, it a beautiful, wonderful place, but sometimes, there are horrid things that people do to each other. Its people who cause it to "rain" on utopia, and if it weren't for this sheltered society we've created around ourselves, we'd be able to see the true purpose. We know the answer, we just can't see it because society has bungled it up so much.
   I really do love this song. It's the kind of song I'd want played at my wedding... :P
