   I think this song is about someone who lost his mother or father.
   The verses are written from the perspective of the child. He or she misses the lost person very much and doesn't know how to live without this person:
   "I feel so lost when you are not at my side"
   
   You might think the song is about losing your lover, because the text says "Around the one I loved". But then the dead person, who speaks in the refrain and the last paragraph, probably wouldn't call the other one "child".
   The dead person tries to give the grieving one hope by telling that it's not their farewell, but they will see each other again.
   
   All in all one can get the impression that the dead person somehow was and still is a guardian of the other one, so I think it's a parent.

   This song is about a mother/father and child loosing their Husband/wife mom/dad. The verses alternate between the greiving monther/father and their deceased spouse. The Greif is pordrayed as lonliness disbelief dispair and helplessness, while the deceased portrays watching over the greiving family and trying their best to pull the greiving family back together as they watch the depression and dispair of the loss slowly pull their family and life they once had to peices. Its a heartbreaking song and it struck a nerve as this exact same thing is happening to my friends life after a tragic loss to cancer. The unfortunate part is nothing anyone does to help works, greif is powerfull and can and does destroy lives, some people really just cant go on living after a tragic loss.

   I think this song is about a woman who lost her spouse and is singing to their child, telling him or her that they are not alone.
