Alkaline Trio: Fuck You Aurora Meaning
Fuck You Aurora Lyrics
Of our pretty little heads these days.
It appears a heavy wind's blown through here recently.
Best wishes have been made for you.
You never had no say it's true.
You have to be the cutest gravedigger I've ever...

About a girl he liked at Columbia College, whom he could not date because she was his friends ex-girlfriend. She moved to Aurora (where she worked for Mopar which is where Chrysler comes in). Aurora (fuck you Aurora) was used in place for the guy that she had a baby with. Matt and her reconnected years later and shared some hard truths and then he wrote this song.
-
Matt explains that the car crash is just a metaphor for the end of the friendship he had with someone after all it died but not literally. The crash represents the "death" of that friendship.

I'm from Aurora. There is a Chrysler, and Rarely any Tornados. Try watching this video on youtube... http://youtu.be/6zJRuKuXnQU
Matt Skiba explains it himself. -
it's called an oldsmobile aurora. DUR.
-
No one died... if you read the Interview, Matt himself explains what it's about. I thought it was about a death as well, but its not... sorry to disappoint.

Matt explains the meaning in an interview given before the release of their latest album.
Interviewer: What is the meaning behind “Fuck You Aurora?”
Matt: It’s about a friend of mine that moved to Aurora, Illinois. After that we didn’t get to see much of each other. Somebody’s gotta take the blame. Sorry, Aurora. -
There is no Chrysler plant in Aurora, I should know I live here. "City of lights" is our city's motto, seeing back in the 1800's all the streets had lights. It's a deep song about losing a friend to a car wreck, and I get it I've been there. I see the wind/storm/tornado as the strength of emotion.
-
ok first of all there is no such thing as a chrysler aurora. Second it is about matt skibas friend dying in her car in a tornado those are the words right from his mouth.
-
Aurora is a town in Illinois (hence the 'city of lights' reference). The song was written about one of Matt, Dan's and my own dear friend who was killed in an unfortunate car accident.
Please stop misinterpreting now that I've clarified the meaning. Her death hurts even now...Years later.
Please enjoy the song for the loss matt, dan, myself and too many others have been affected by. I pray no one else has to feel such a pain.
"Everything will be okay in the end...If it's not okay, it's not the end." -
