All On Black Lyrics

I put it all on black, no color you're all dressed in
And a stab in the back left you bleeding on the floor
And I'm mourning the death, the recent passing of your insides
I smile in regret every time I think of how I spoke to you

I put it...

I always thought this song was about shooting up heroin, and denying God. You can catch references to syringes throughout the song.

Yea, I think it's about religion.
"sweet blaspheme my giving tree it hasn't rained in years."
Basically an attack on the people of the religion. Many people claim something without ever following it.

My giving tree it hasn't rained in years. Christians don't give of themselves the same way Jesus told us to anymore. We as a society (christian and muslim, buddhist, atheiest, and every ist/ism) doesn't tend to give of themselves anymore. A selfish plague has stricken us all...

Humans need to be giving of themselves, rather than follow, what every person can agree on, our own normal path of destruction.

I think in parts it's about worshiping satan. "What's upside down? What's coated in silver? This crucifix is my four leaf clover" also "I bring to you this sacrificial offering of virgin ears". He sings about satan to the listeners. just my opinion

I believe this song was actually written to make you question your religion and how you follow it. It refers to wearing a crucifix like a good luck charm, and how the bible is being used to try to answer someone's questions as opposed to telling them the answer (this tired book this organ donor). Also, there's the reference to "The Giving Tree." which would refer to Jesus Christ, being that he gave everything he had for our sins. It was made to show the lack of understanding people have for their own religion.

I think it's about where the guy has put everything into the relationship "I put it all on black" like gambling, only to have the girl cheat on him. They have argued and now it's over. "I put it all in back of my mind where I hold you and I'm just trying to keep track of how far back this really goes" Also there's the religion references "sweet blasphomy, my giving tree, scarficial offereing and upside down cruxfix." He's turning to the dark side since the demise of thier relationship. And finally, someone told me the song is supposed to be about derek's divorce.

Some people would say this song has to do with vampires (a vampire killed his girlfriend), or murder, death and destruction (a guy's girlfriend got murdered or he murdered her or whatever). But it's really about the death of a relationship, I think. Black symbolizes death, and "the death of your insides" could mean the death of your love.

"I smile in regret, every time I think of how I spoke to you" means they probably had an arguement, and now it's over.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
