Trouble Breathing Lyrics

you told me that you want to die. i said i've been there myself more than a few times. and i go back every once in a while. you called me lucky, you... you called me lucky. you said tonight is a wonderful night to die. i asked you how you could...

A rather satirical song about suicide/depression still with grounded messages. The overall tone is sarcastic, going against the typical grain of songs like this, much like Dead End Road does. However it's still portraying a sadder and terrible side to it that should be made cautious and as a serious problem. Just in your not so typical way

Yeah, it sounded like bottle to me too, as sad as it is, this song is a little funny, even sort of sarcastic and captures really well the way it feels when you´re down and people keep telling you to be happy at how beautiful life es and you just can´t seem to find it in yourself to feel that way, phrases like: "Look at all those stars, look at how goddamn ugly the stars are!!" when you´re feeling really depressed, stars, rainbows and ponys won´t make it right for you, and hearing phrases like "You´ll be ok", "It will pass" "you won´t always feel this way" make you even more sick, which is why I love the chorus so much, "You´ll never be ok, you´ll always feel this way, things never turn out right, you´ll always be in pain" and the rope or bottle thing seems to me like thinking it´s a bad choice or a worse choice, so even though those phrases might not help you go through, they´re truth, which I assume causes the sarcastic end in "Don´t forget to let your life rot you inside out"

This song is about a friend of Matt Skiba who committed suicide in grade school. Their are other songs about this as well such as fall victim.

    It's a rope and a bottle, not a rope and a battle.

    That's not a bass. It's a guitar.

This song, as most songs by the ever so lovely alk3, is about suicide.

This girl is talking to skiba saying how she hates life and wants to die. He says that he's been there but explains that after all its wrong to think about it, and you must let life pass you by because its healthy, no matter how hard it is.

    Ex- its one of another
between a rope or a battle
I can tell you're having trouble breathing

the rope represents the idea of hanging/choking yourself.
The battle represents the battle of life itself.

This song is excellent, no matter how gory the meaning may be. It has a great bass beginning that I can never get out of my head!!
