Alkaline Trio: Sorry About That Meaning
Sorry About That Lyrics
-
I agree with all of you and just reading all of your post gave me goosebumps ^;^ wow.

Another one of the best songs ever written, here's what I think
"It hasn't been that long
Since we drank to the sunset.. until it was gone
and down with it went our pain and fear
as we slowly broke contact more and more with every beer
and we passed out in each other's arms
both admitting we'd never felt better
Never felt so warm
But awoke in each other's eyes
Without wearing a stitch of clothing
we were both deeply in disguise"
->drinking with his best friend, to comfort her, they get very drunk and the girl is recovering from a broken heart from a previous relationship, as they get more intoxicated they decide to spend the night together because their judgment is now flawed. It feels good, feels comfortable, she is looking to him for comfort and he loves her and it feels right.
"It seems like it's been so long since we kissed through the darkness until it was dawn
Up with it came our pain and fear
that we'd already lost each other
We both knew that the end was near"
->after waking up and realizing what they had done had torn them apart instead of bringing them closer. It has effectively ruined a friendship, they both knew it and did not want to admit it, it was to late now what was done was done. both are longing for that special moment which they could never get back.
'maybe I just set aside the fact that you were broken hearted
In my own special selfish way
and if I hadn't set aside the fact that you were broken hearted
Hell knows where your heart would be today
Maybe with me"
->he knew what was happening but was selfish both to her and himself, he wanted something so bad that the consequence did not matter, because it was something he longed for and it had finally happened. If he just waited for her to heal, instead of one night of passion from intoxication, maybe she could have learned to love him as he loved her!
this song speaks to me I hope my interpretation helps -
This song is about Matt Skiba being with a girl that he wasn't supposed to be with. Read the intro to the Goddamnit! Redux written by Brendan Kelly.
-
The song is about how Skiba treated a girl poorly and he realized he was a dick so this song was his apology.
-
I think this song is about a guy that likes a girl, and they were very good friends, and would hang out all the time. Then she just got out of a serious relationship, and her heart was broken, and that night they hung out, and he "took advantage of the fact she was broken hearted". Then after he realized he screwed everytihng up by doing that, and now he can never be with her..
matt skiba has awsome metaphors, and it's very hard to understand a lot of his songs, but they are amzing, and that's how I interpeted this song. -
Well, that maybe what it was written about, but to me it seems like a guy gets a girl drunk who he really likes, and takes advantage of her and now he can't have her because of what he's done.
-
This song, I swear, is beautiful. Skiba played it at the concert, and I cried. At the end of the concert he hugged me. To whoever is reading this, yes, I know, I am extrmemly blessed to have hugged a genious like skiba.
This song meaning is not quite what the previous person has posted. This song is about a girl who had a very huge crush on this guy [skiba, in this case]. They went to a bar, and got drunk. They went to bed and talked about heartbreaks, and what broke their heart. They confessed that they never felt better with anyone else. They had..."it", as most ppl refer to it. The girl was extrmemly sad from then on, because she loved having that feeling of comfort with this guy, and loved him dearly, and knew that she could never feel that way with him again.
This song is amazing beautiful, with amazing acoustics, played by the ever-so talented, matt thomas skiba<3. -
This is Skiba singing about a women he has been with who is just out of a realtionship and things arn't the way they used to be and things have changed. He says she is broken-hearted and he never set it aside, this shows that only now he realises but it's to late.
It's a very personal relationship when I think about this song. No one is allowed into their world or out, but when that does happen, it all goes wrong with horrible feelings of regret.
