Disturbed: Darkness Meaning
Darkness Lyrics
I pray you've heard the words I've spoken
Dare to believe
Over one last time
Then I'll let the darkness cover me
Deny everything
Slowly walk away
To breathe again
On my own
Carry me away
I need your strength to get me...

I think it's about a child of his that he thought had passed but still lives to this day. That's just my opion. I've seen her, she looks just like him. My child ex plains it and misscarrage was in my opion and medivir . It's to painful for him and he has the right not to share his buisness til he his ready. Lots of love and never stop rockin

A kind song by 'DISTURBED' with a real concern that He[the Protagonist] might be losing 'That Light', that's in His life[ Who symbolically represents His 'Loved One']. That He prays for, and obviously loves, cares and looks up to very much. Wanting His 'loved one' to be a Believer one last time in That Light, He sees as bright and good in this special Individual that He loves. Before His 'loved one' leaves or dies fading away from Him[the Protagonist]. Who will be left in the absence of That Light that would fade with His loved one gone. Who's left now in the DARKNESS that will cover Him alone again within that dark matter, that matters to Him to remember the WARMPTH OF HIS LOVED ONE AS A LIGHT, that once came around and into His life.

I feel like this song meaning is about the life mistakes a person has and how they regret it so much they use denial and isolation to help them think strait and cope with the guilt they have.
-
I see it as throwing in the towel on a relationship after trying and hoping for too long. Not wanting to leave, but seeing the end coming, hoping hard-heartedness will see him through the process until he can get her out of his head enough to enjoy life again.

I want this song played at my funeral. Or Disturbed's, "Remember".

Its a sad song about David losing someone that was close to him. Its also what the first person said about them not standing the test of time and will fade away.
-
David wrote it with two meanings. First, when they were recording the album (Believe) his grandfather passed away; and they were very close. He dedicated this song to him, but it can be determined in a few other ways. One is that it's how they (Disturbed) know that it's inevitable that they won't stand the test of time forever and will eventually fade away.
-
If I remember it good, Dave dedicated this song to his grandfather or aunt, i'm not sure, but it do tell about losing someone really important and dear to you and the darkness that comes with it
-
This song reminds me of losing a loved one and the darkness you and your family feels during that time.
