Disturbed: Divide Meaning
Divide Lyrics
I want to tear a big hole in what is to be
To end all this infatuation with unity
I'm seeking my salvation alone again
I never needed to be one of you anyway
Don't wanna be another player losing in this game
I'm...

A song about rebellion, who is trying to understand it's messege from both sides of the coin. From my perspective view, on the one hand it may be about 'the father of lies' who from the beginning was/is condemned to stand alone and away from the unity of God. Like what became of Lucifer's fall out of Heaven. Who was cast out and transformed down to Earth to be called Satan then the Devil, which has been and still wants to ''divide'' the unity of God's love of His people eversince first Adam was created you may say that made him angry and jealous. With many kinds of ''people of the lie'' nowadays that want to mislead and ''divide'' you physically and psycologicaly. On the other hand you can take this song to be about the Individual person who was beginning to get sick listening and following the Herd mentality. Where now he wants to breakaway and do His own kind of thing. Now this could be with a mindset belief in what God The Father may want for this Individual or not. But if this Person realizes the mentality of the Herd, that he belongs to are driving themselves over the cliff by their ideology of misused or misunderstood religion that was/is thaught to them. The other alternative thing to do, like in this case was/is for him, the Individual who needs to separate himself from them. even if He is the last man standing. Like did Jesus, away from the Pharisees misused religion point of view. All in order to ''divide'' all them people away from their 'sinful nature' to realize God's help from a distant hope now that one day all people will become one with the true God of knowing the meaning of freedom before the rest of the Herd that kept and keeps following the Deceiver will not fall over the cliff.

When this song was made I always wanted to listen to it now that I have heard it there's so much that I have in common with it.
-
It's about someone who is aggressive and no one can break him.

Instead of going with this trendy notion of trying to always unite and be one, say the hell with it. Be yourself, be an individual. Stand out from the crowd. Make your own mark, make your impact.

It is about a man who feels he is different from society, beyond and above it, set far apart. He even considers himself to be twisted, and challenges what 'freedom' means, if he is not free to be 'as twisted as I wanna be'. He feels that society is just the same boring game, played over and over every day and he wants and needs no part of it.
