Disturbed: Down with the Sickness Meaning
Song Released: 2000
Down with the Sickness Lyrics
Ah shit
Drowning deep in my sea of loathing
Broken your servant I kneel
(Will you give in to me?)
It seems what's left of my human side
Is slowly changing in me
(Will you give in to me?)
Looking at my own...

You noob fools no-one got it right it is about the religion islam trying to take over the world and coming down with a sickness (=islam) which turns every person into a demon. if you don't believe then just listen to the ozzfest version where the islamic call to prayer starts of the song, then the voice says 'ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, dying time's here' = refers to islamic terrorists killing all non-muslims. (open up your hate) the mother part is islam fucking around with people and eventually people realising its all bullshit and fight back. if you retards don't believe then read the quran its all there.

I think this violently scary song about being abused to the point where you get so full of hatred you want to have revenge on the person hurting you."Drowning deep in my sea of loathing
Broken your servant I kneel
(Will you give it to me?)
It seems what's left of my human side
Is slowly changing in me
(Will you give it to me?)"
Its a sickness because the person is projecting their hate onto you. "woken up the demon in me," then he goes on to say,"No mommy, don't do it again
Don't do it again
I'll be a good boy
I'll be a good boy, I promise
No mommy don't hit me
Why did you have to hit me like that, mommy?
Don't do it, you're hurting me
Why did you have to be such a bitch
Why don't you,
Why don't you just fuck off and die
Why can't you just fuck off and die
Why can't you just leave here and die
Never stick your hand in my face again bitch
FUCK YOU
I don't need this shit
You stupid sadistic abusive fucking whore
How would you like to see how it feels mommy
Here it comes, get ready to die" so ya... -
Deffinately a protesting song. pretty much saying that if society keeps pushing it's ways on us, somebody will snap and go all rampaging psycho, either through words or actions.
When i listen to it, i see a man pushed to his limit by war, greed, poverty, and many other horrible things created by the government and society we live in. -
Honestly whatever it does mean either the society or abuse this is my personal Interpretation of the song.
the kid or child in question is becoming more and more like a monster, a raging monsterously hatred fueled demon of sorts really and he wishes to exact his revenge on the abuser. basically it shows to me that the sickness is giving into to the change -
I feel that it is really about anger and mans struggle with his alternate side that is evil and anger as in the movie it says "youv'e woken up the demon in me" i find it really speaks to me on the level of my anger and hatred and evil side that can sometimes take over and remove anything human from yourself but yeah it is about the mommy state obviously in that verse of course.

ZOMBIES! :D

I believe the mother society interpretation because its true we are put down beat and lied to by society and its time to get down with the sickness and rise up to make the world better but we are to afraid to rise up we just need one person to rise and others will follow like in land of confusion we need a hero but no one is brave enough we all just sit back and watch the world screw itself
-
ok now i feel really stupid and really misinformed. i was told that it was talking about herion and that once you opened the demon(doing herion) that there is no turning back ect... down with the sickness is the feeling i have been told that comes when you dont have it.

Dudes this song is about either of one of two things
1. child abuse, with all the anger, and hatred of the child finally coming out when he kills his mother (best part of song >:) hehehehe!!)
2. The "mother" society "beating" its "child" people in the society
G'day -

i must say I'm little bit confused by all those posts. Its clear I'm respecting the true meaning of song, because its the creation of the artist and especialy davids songs have deep meanings buried inside the text. but when I discover this band I was in the part of my life when I was feeding meself with hate againts system and society trying to find "my" way to live and then I realized this is only another way to destroy myself. There isn't any other better "system" that could be used to controling this mas of humanity pimping over the globe, there is no "outer haven". I think the only outer haven where I could find the peace is inside of me so I take "disturbed" songs very personaly and never think bout the politics and society or war or other those global things. If david wants to say "the society is very bad mother" thx I know it long before you told me :o) but I stay in my own personal way of interpretation lirics. because its really means something so thx for reading and keep me sorry for my grammar...

I wish I could vote with negative stars... your parents should have done the right thing and aborted you... but I guess there is still time for post-natal abortion. Hopefully though your parents died before they had a chance to shit out a second child as worthless as you though. If that is the case then do us a solid one and drink some anti-freeze.
Thanks in advance. -
