Disturbed: Sons Of Plunder Meaning
Sons Of Plunder Lyrics
Tell me you like it
You say you've found yourself a new sound
The shit's loaded and ready to go
A bit too much just like the old sound
Already heard it for the hundredth time
One hundred more, all have the same...

#1 top rated interpretation:You all are wonderfully incorrect. First of all, plunder is not to destroy. I quote thefreedictionary.com: Plunder- To rob of goods by force, especially in time of war
In the lyrics "You say you've found yourself a new sound
The shit's loaded and ready to go
A bit too much just like the old sound
Already heard it for the hundredth time
One hundred more, all have the same sound
Running around with all the sheep that you know
"It's so sublime, they're breaking new ground"
"They're sure to have another hit this time", the band is talking about the modern day music industry, how all songs sound alike, and that record dealers look for songs that sound the same so that they are guaranteed sales. In the song where they say "All searching for the answers they don't even care to know", it shows that most modern-day song writers/performers, etc. are in the career for the money. They have no intentions to have an impact on anyone. Music is supposed to have meaning, not to make money. I feel that this song is Draiman's protest against the modern day music industry. I, for one, fully support him in this endeavor. -

#2 top rated interpretation:While this song sounds like it could be an attack on politicians, according to The Street Network, "Sons of Plunder" finds the singer tackling the current state of modern Pop radio. Says David Draiman: "Every A&R guy and their mother is trying to jump on what they think is the next band to break, and flood the airwaves with the same bands that sound exactly the same as every other band in that respective genré. If "Sons of Plunder" ends up offending some of the sheep out there, oh, well. I don't care!"

Directly about the music industry, but easily related to any modern organizations. The countless numbers want to be famous, well known or loved, and so only strive for what will make them so beloved, not what will improve society or what is culturally unique.
-
It's attacking pop, hip-hop and rap, about how it all sounds the same, and that it won't stand the test of time.
"A bit too much just like the old sound, already heard it for the hundredth time. On hundred more, all have the same sound, running around with all the sheep that you know."
Pretty nice meaning, I have to say. -
its talking about how fame and worldwide renown distracts us from 'them' the pimping sons of plunder are robbing with force. then
hundreds thrown away
Makes me question just what I believe
is obviously a reference to war, mindless drones enslaved - well look at us working for the rest of are lives for money something that has no real worth.
and then he's saying how he doesn't want to know this stuff because it's not nice to know, he's kinda saying wake up and control your lives you stupid fucks. -
This song is about how there is no more orginality in the music business. How record excecutives are robbing songs from the past, repackaging and trying to push them off as new to a younger generation.
-
if you think about the lyrics just right, the message sent is talking about war and the reasons for being a lie. Kinda like the crusades
-
It is about American Idol, "as the countless numbers hunger for worldwide renown" it's talking about all the competitors looking for fame and fortune.
"You say you found yourself a new sound.
The ships loaded and ready to go
A bit too much just like the old sound
Already heard it for the hundredth time"
Speaking of how so many people say that they have a new sound but it's all the same
lastly, "as the pimping sons of plunder will roll up their sleeves." I think this refers to the panel of judges because they do 'plunder' a lot of people's dreams. Simple -
I might be wrong, but I think sons of plunder is about people sending slaves and poor kids of to fight. Plunder means to destroy or destruction. So they are the Sons of destruction, Fighting and they don't even know they are doing something wrong. They are forced to die for no reason.
