Melanie Martinez: Mrs Potato Head Meaning
Mrs Potato Head Lyrics
You can buy a couple ornaments
Just be sure to read the warning, kids
Cause pretty soon you'll be bored of it
Sexual, hey girl if you wanna feel sexual
You can always call up a professional
They stick pins in you...

This song is singing about doing stuff just be pretty. Like getting plastic surgery to be beautiful. The phrase "will you swear to stay forever, even her face doesn't stay together" could mean will the boy still love the girl if she's ugly?

One of the lyrics that really hit me in this song is, “does a pretty face make it better?”. Crybaby has a really rough life, and on top of it, she starts judging herself. She wonders if being pretty will make her life better or make her happier. People who get plastic surgery are usually pressured into it. But she’s also worried it might go wrong because so many things in her life had already gone wrong. I feel like the other theories are right but I wanted to add this on top of it. Thanks for reading!

The song expresses that it's about getting plastic surgery, Melanie shows that many people feel that they aren't 'pretty', and that they get surgery due to that fact. Melanie tries to say that we're all beautiful and we shouldn't change ourselves because of what someone said.
Thanks for reading my interpretation.

The song represents the struggles of women in the past, and present. How they had to be lady-like and pretty and beautiful. Some husbands only married to pretty much flex on other men. A lot of women were pressured into plastic surgery, diet pills, wigs and many other fake pieces of plastic, and ornaments.

I know the song is about a girl who has a beautiful face but get plastic surgery and her boobs filled because the man wants her to be "beautiful", even though everyone is.Melanie explains how society pressures us to be perfect even though there is no such thing. Everyone is beautiful. It doesn't matter if you fat or skinny or in between or thicc. It doesn't matter what shape you are, you are beautiful without surgery always, and without makeup too. People will still love you, even if you believe you are unattractive, though you are still beautiful in every way, your true way.
-
I believe that the meaning of the song is that
People can be upset about there appearance or they could be bullyed into thinking so. The lyric "baby soft skin turned into leather" represents that you can go from a normal look to looking like a barbie doll and a barbie dolls skin is rough and hard like leather. So she is saying that you can go from looking li you to being like a plastic doll just like a barbie or a bratz doll

I think the song is about crybaby feeling insecure about herself, and is thinking about plastic surgery."oh mr. potato head told me, how did you afford a surgery" She's feeling very insecure about herself, and I think she's talking about herself in 3rd person "No one will love you if you're unattractive."
-
Mrs Potato Head is about girls finding "the perfect man" and the man not happy with the girls facial features and because he has lots of money he thinks he can pay any women to do whatever he wants and in this situation he makes the girl (who is beautiful anyway) get plastic surgery. when it is time to reveal how the surgery went he realises that he hates how she looks now and that he wasted his money and cant stay with her. she sees how she looks and realises that shes made a terrible mistake and sees the man doing the exact same thing to another beautiful girl.
moral of the story... every girl is beautiful in their own way and should never change themselves for a man, if he doesnt like the way you look then his not worth all the trouble. find someome who loves you for the way you are -
i think that all these interpretations are correct. it does mean about changing ourselves for people but also maybe being a people pleaser and wanting people to accept us and fit in.
-
Mrs. Potato Head is trying to tell you that you don't need plastic surgery to be loved. You want someone who WILL 'Stay forever' If you use thousands of dollars, you might never get someone. Your beauty reflects who you are as a person, not how you look. people will say that 'no one will love you if you're unattractive' well I think that it is wrong to hurt yourself for others.
-
You beautiful no matter what, so don’t ruin your looks.
-
We try to change ourselves cuz we want others to like us. Melanie tries to show us that being true to ourelves is what matters and we shouldn't care about what other people are gonna say
-
It's a parody of now...look at the Kardashians, Models...media in general...all they tell us is to be stick thin, plump up your lips, smooth your skin out, get Botox, get your breasts as big as a watermelon, fill your ass up with silicone...but this song is very much amazing, and it mirrors what we see...pill diet and such
-
It means love yourself no matter what if a boy wants you to change he is not worthy enough for you
-
I also think that this song simply tells us to appreciate the way we are and be content. If boys don't see the way you are and accept it it means that they don't love you. So girl stop adding or subtracting things from your body you beautiful just the way you are.
