Skillet: Monster Meaning
Song Released: 2009
Monster Lyrics
I never let you see
I keep it caged but I can't control it.
So stay away from me
the beast is ugly
I feel the rage and I just can't hold it.
It's scratching on the walls
in the closet, in the halls
It comes...
-
I think it's about someone trying to control and hide there darker side. But struggle to keep it in.
-
I think this song is about the dark side of yourself.
"I feel it deep within its just beneath the skin."
Is saying That this 'monster' is deep with in the self. -
ok seriously skillet may be a christian fucking band but that doesnt mean that all they do is preach their beleifs through music
-
Its sounds as if the song describes a possessed person, and what they are dealing with. I mean, the song is very obvious. It's describing a possessed person.
-
this song to me is some one who has a darker side and tries to hide it and wants help but no ones their so he or she feels like a monster. this song shows a darker side of some ones soul and has lots of anger in the song.
-
My 10 1/2 year old son, who is diagnosed bipolar, PTSD and autism spectrum disorder says this song is about him.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
I think this thing is real. The monster they are singing about. I think this because I can feel it inside of me. I dont know if its actually something to be scared of, but I definately am. Its real, and its crawling around inside of me. When I heard this song, I was like "yes, this is my song. Thats exactly how I feel." I dont want you to think im losing it or anything, but I do wonder. Its gaining more control, and I can feel how dangerous it is.

Skillet is a christian rock band. And in the song they're describing that sometimes you can't hold the fear and sickness. And the life of sin that you have and sometimes that dark side of you shows the MONSTER INSIDE OF YOU. And sometimes you can't keep it under control and you "hate what you've become" you have to give it all over to God and let him take control.
-
I feel like trying to force the religious aspect of the band into this song doesn't work. Yes the band has their own beliefs as do many people but, in no way shape or form does this relate to the religion. I'm saying this as a catholic too this song, in my opinion is just about the anger and the demons we all carry inside us and how hard we try to hide it from everyone. Also how everyday is a struggle to keep our personal "monster" tamed with every little action that can piss somebody off throughout the day.

-
It's about being mentally caged and breaking free.
-
This is about being caged up mentally and now letting go and breaking out of the mental cage.
-
Personally i view this song as he feels like a monster for the sins he has committed, and he doesn't want to let it show because it tears him down spiritually and destroys his relationship with god.
-
Personally, I think this song describes someone who suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder, and how there's this one evil personality who's ruining his/her life.
