Within Temptation: Deceiver of Fools Meaning
Deceiver of Fools Lyrics
He feeds on pain
He rules again
With growing hate
He will guide
Their faith again
No light in the darkness
Is too small to see
There's always a sparkle of hope
If you just believe
He told the tale so many times
About the dream...

I agree that the meaning is pretty obvious - but I don't agree that it is about a man she loved or loves - Historically, "Deceiver of Fools" has been a title used to refer to Lucifer. Compound that with the fact that Within Temptation has a long history of singing "themed" songs, or songs about circumstances outside their own lives - i.e., Songs based on fictional literature characters and so on then finally factor in the point that this band rarely (if ever) sings songs like the so called great American Rock bands who cannot sing about anything other than how broken hearted they are because they lost the only squeeze they're ever likely to have, etc, blah blah - it's not a stretch to realize "whom" they are singing about.

I think this one is pretty obvious. This man thrives on ruining other people's lives, and the girl is telling everyone to stand up and fight, because the only way he'll stop is if they make him.
