idontwannabeyouanymore Lyrics

Don't be that way
Fall apart twice a day
I just wish you could feel what you say
Show, never tell
But I know you too well
Kind of mood that you wish you could sell
If teardrops could be bottled
There'd be swimming pools filled by...

This song also talks about her struggles with depression and being a young, extremely famous artist. She struggles with not being able to express her feelings about her sadness with other people, so her music is a way to let go. If she expresses her feelings in a normal conversation without metaphors and song lyrics “it would make them true...It’s not gonna do anything except make me more aware of it and make me want to drown myself in a pit of lava even more.” -Billie Eilish (Genius Interview)

She associates models with extreme sadness. She projects herself into their lives because she feels like she can relate to always being looked at and scrutinized wherever, whenever, whatever she does or doesn’t do. In the years of her newfound fame, she tried to act as if she was happy, but this song screams that she wasn’t, and it’s more or less a cry for help. Almost every line has a reference to depression.

She says that models are our society's role models for how girls have to look and act. “The standards” of what we should work to become. The line “was I made from a broken mold” explains her feelings about not being as “perfect” as the models and people around her.

“We’ve made every mistake” Billie struggled with loving herself at the time she wrote this song. She believed she couldn’t do anything right. But she kept pushing through.

“Only you know the way that I break” Referring to herself as you and being emotionally aware of what makes her sad and what could shut her down, but not letting anyone know.

In an interview, she said that this song was about how much she hated herself and didn't want to be herself anymore. I think it's about her depression, because the lines relate to how she hates herself and asking if she was made from a 'broken mold'

She's saying, she doesn't want to be herself anymore, "tell the mirror what you know she's heard before, I don't wanna be you, anymore." She's talking to herself, and in the music video she is talking to a mirror. And when she says "if teardrops could be bottled, ther'd be swimming pools, filled by models" she's also saying that models are depressed, and they always are going through rough times. And what she means when she sings "was I made, from a broken mold?" Is she said that she used to make these sort of clay things, and you would put your shape inside of the mold, but sometimes the mold would break, and she was saying that is she the broken mold, because she's always broken. And when she sings "don't be that way, fall apart twice a day" is that she always gets sad and down everyday, and she's telling herself to stop letting sadness get in her way.

I think this song is about body dysmorphia. The lyrics say “tell the mirror what you know she’s heard before” and “was I made from a broken mold?”

The song is about insecurities and self confidence, and how hating yourself so much that you can’t even stand being you anymore, Billie Eilish made this song so her fans knew what it's like to be in her head, in the music video Billie looks into the mirror and doesn't want to be the person she sees, when she says “if teardrops could be bottled, there'd be swimming pools, filled by models” saying that models are depressed and not being themselves and wishing they were someone else.By Asha Reddy

This song sounds like a plea to herself. She says,

    "If teardrops could be bottled
There'd be swimming pools filled by models
Told a tight dress is what makes you a whore
If "I love you" was a promise
Would you break it, if you're honest
Tell the mirror what you know she's heard before
I don't wanna be you anymore"

I'd like to talk about the recurrent line and title of the song, "I don't wanna be you anymore". This can be initially confusing, but she's singing this to her "mirror", aka herself.
For whatever reason, be it stress or hardship, she doesn't want to stay "Billie Eilish", the teen songstress and star.

Billie feels like she's ugly and that she wasn't born right and that she does not want to be herself any more.

I read an article where it describes this song as her breakdown song.that we all say we're fine but don't feel so and it sheds a light on the emotional crisis models face and are forced to hide.as fore broken mold Billie used to make candles out of mold when she was younger and if was broken it wouldn't burn out right as for"if I love you was a promise would you break it if your honest"it is beloved she ment to say that we say we love our self's lieing to our self's telling the mirror we don't want to be her anymore

I believe that she is saying that her heart has been so broken that she isn't herself anymore. And is telling herself that she doesn't want to be herself... anymore.
