Billie Eilish: Bored Meaning
Song Released: 2017
Bored Lyrics
You'd say you'd stay but then you'd run
Giving you what you're begging for
Giving you what you say I need
I don't want any settled scores
I just want you to set me free
Giving you what you're begging...

#1 top rated interpretation:it’s about a relationship that is draining. you do everything for them. you don’t wanna be without them but you give them everything and you want the same back, you want both cups to be half full but they don’t. they just want want and want but can’t give. they care about themselves and only want what will benefit them leaving you in the dirt. “i don’t want love that i can’t afford” more like i don’t wanna keep being in a relationship where i can’t seem to be enough for you that you keep taking everything from me. my energy, my time, my everything and eventually, you’re not afraid anymore to be on your own anymore because you’ve basically been on your own the entire relationship. they leave and come back whenever.

#2 top rated interpretation:I think the meaning of this song is a girls point of view and her bf is sexually abusing her and he is manipulating her into doing things only he wants to do. For example in the song it says "giving you a piece of me" and "doin what u say i need. so i think their is some sexual abuse going/ being described in this song

#3 top rated interpretation:I think that the song follows the story of a boy and a girl. The boy is constantly, and slowly breaking her apart, piece by piece, until she's giving everything to him, while he's locking her in a never-ending cycle of hate and abuse. Soon, the girl realizes what's happening, and she begins to become bored of this all. Fearless, she begs for freedom, knowing, that she can live on her own.

I believe it’s about being in a toxic friendship or relationship. Where only you are putting everything into it yet get nothing in return. Instead they want you to change for them and not for yourself “Giving you what you say I need”. And slowly giving up your life to them. And they can do whatever they want making you do whatever they want. You never find happiness in the relationship nothing seems fun anymore. Getting more and more bored of your relationship and feel like a never ending escape trying to please them. Wishing you could be your self but still have their love “I don’t want love I can’t afford, I just want your love for free.” And soon having the confidence to break it off no longer afraid of what they think or believe. “I’m not afraid anymore what make you sure you’re all I need?”
“Forget about it” meaning they left for the better of themselves not for the other. -
I think the Same like the people say and i think the Song is like someone abusing her or in her young age.
-
I think given what you have been begging for, is her parents or friends bullying her or doing something she did not want when she was young, for the games she played were never fun, I think it meant her boyfriend doing something bad to her, I feel it's about her boyfriend abusing her and that shit because it said You be leaving me by myself, also on her song it says love so maybe she wants people loving her because she prob has self anxiety, but I think she is talking abt her bf and her family and family friends.

I'm sure it's about s.a (sexual assault) that's why it has 13 reasons why as the cover Hannah Baker was raped I think it's what the song is about. She's giving him every piece of her because she wants him to love her for free but all he sees is a perfect body and cute face

I think it’s a girl trapped in a loveless relationship.
“Giving you what you say I need…”
I think that’s her saying that he’s using her to get what he wants. -
I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be about a toxic relationship between a boy and a girl as other comments have said, but for me it hits home because the lyrics perfectly describe my relationship with god. If you have a good relationship with him, that's great, but for me, it never really was. I would always trick myself that the relationship was great, when in reality it was so rocky and unpredictable. God would "play games" where I would feel like he had my back for an hour or so and then the next moment he would leave me to feel alone and depressed. In order to feel his love, especially after I was mean to my brother or some other dumb sin like that, I would have to feel super ashamed of myself and super apologetic and repentant to the point where it felt like torture to my heart and soul. Only after that long process of mental gymnastics and getting as sorry as possible could I feel his love. This was so emotionally draining, but I felt like I needed his love to survive and be happy. But he wouldn't give me what I needed so easily. So that's why Billie's lyrics of "giving you every piece of me" and "I just want you to love for free" resonate so much with me. I basically just feel like God's not loving me for free and I have to tear myself down to the scum of the earth in order for him to help me feel his love. Again, not dissing on anyone's god, just talking about how my relationship with him has simply not been great and how that affects my interpretation of the song.

I think this song mean when she sayed Givin' you every piece of me
I don't want love I can't afford
I just want you to love for free
I think it means I think it means a girl that's getting pushed around by her friends she does not want to do the things they are doing but she wants them to like her so that why she needs they love she wants to fit it but she wants to be free and not around she giving them her real self and she they don't want it -
"Givin' you all you want and more
Givin' you every piece of me"
"Can't you see that I'm gettin' bored?" I feel like those lyrics mean that she's tired of getting used for her body and wants real love.
-
“Giving you all you want and more
Giving you every piece of me”
I might be wrong but I think it might be about getting used for your body, that’s why she wants to end things.

I think that an interperetation of this song is just in general, a relationship that is almost completely one-sided.
With the lyrics, "I'm not afraid anymore. What makes you sure- you're all I need? Forget about it." I think of that line of text as a dialouge in my head between the two in the one-sided relationship.
Whenever I listen to this song, I could see any type of relationship. From a toxic mother daughter relationship, to a one-sided fuck buddy relationship.
In all, this song just gives off a first person view of a one-sided relationship. Where on one hand, the person singing from their view only sees this person, who they had known to love them for what felt like forever, just seem to stop caring about the relationship they had. On the other hand, this song could've been meant for getting over a relationship with somebody they were close with. Whether sexual or nonsexual, this song never specifies.
-i just really hate them -
I think this song is about a girl who in her relationship feels undervalued by her boyfriend. She is clearly very in love with him but he isn't giving her the same energy back and it is slowly breaking her apart. The girl tries to give everything to him, but its not enough, so she wants to be free from the relationship because she's lost patience of him not caring about her feelings. Every time he neglects her and leaves her torn, she feels that it's getting easier to be able to be without him and that she can be on her own.
-
I honestly think this is about a girl and a boy who love each other but has already been through so much so they can't commit. Or the boy can't love her and shes learning to just forget about it.
-
i think that this song is about a toxic relationship, and that she used to be scared of losing them but she's grown to be bored of the games and she doesn't want to fight anymore, she wants them to either give her the love she deserves or to let her go. she doesn't want to get even, she doesn't want revenge. she just wants to be free.
-
“Giving you what you’re begging for” I think the guy is using her for her body. He shows no interest in her other then sex. “And when you walk out the door and leave me torn” He walks out on her and she feels torn because he like “tore” all her clothes off and just left after he got enough. “I’m not afraid anymore” she’s not afraid to tell someone that he’s using her. “What makes you sure you’re all I need” she knows that he’s not what she needs but he’s what she wants. “I just want you to love for free” she wants him to love her. Like really love her, go on trips with her, have real conversations with her. And “for free” because she wants him to not need her body to stay. Its like she’s paying him with her body and that’s why he’s still with her.
-
I think the song is about a couple but the boy takes the girl for granted and is always leaving or cancelling plans they may have made. It leaves the girl torn so she decided to end the relationship and when the boy thought that he was all she needed, she knew that he wasn't because he was never there for her.
