Billie Eilish: everything i wanted Meaning
Song Released: 2019
everything i wanted Lyrics
I got everything I wanted
Not what you'd think
And if I'm being honest
It might have been a nightmare
To anyone who might care
Thought I could fly
So I stepped off the golden
Nobody cried
Nobody even noticed
I saw...

#1 top rated interpretation:This is about a dream she had where she committed suicide, but nobody cared. Then the line repeats and says 'and you say, as long as I am here, no one can hurt you' etc. This refers to her brother, Fineas. It's about her relationship with him, but also some other things. Her depression, for one, but also her sleep paralysis. The line 'I tried to scream, but my head was underwater' refers to this. It means she tried to scream, but she couldn't.

2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:This is about the dream she had about suicide.
Where she jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge ”I stepped off the Golden”
Every friend and person she worked with then says they never liked her ”nobody cried, nobody even noticed” and ”i saw them standing right there. Kinda thought they might care.”
The Golden Gate Bridge is, clearly, above water ” I tried to scream, but my head was underwater”
It is also talking about her relationship with Finneas, her brother ”but when I wake up I see you with me. And you say ’as long as I'm here, no one can hurt you. Don't wanna lie here but you can learn to. If I could change the way that you see yourself, you wouldn't wonder why you hear they don't deserve you’” -
3TOP RATED
#3 top rated interpretation:It's about that she dreamed about killing herself and that her brother is keeping her alive
-
this song is about her commiting suicide in a dream but nobody cares about her and her brother Finneas is the reason she is still alive❤️
-
It's about her dream, or someone trying to suicide herself because at first, it's talking about her, also no one will care, which means no one will care if she died or disappeared, saying that as long as we're here, means we will be with you if you kill yourself, and it's us telling her how everyone is being rude to her and everyone is being too stupid or that shit.

[Verse 1]
I had a dream
I got everything I wanted
Not what you'd think
And if I'm being honest
It might've been a nightmare
To anyone who might care
Thought I could fly (fly)
So I stepped off the Golden, hmm
[She had a dream in which she committed suicide by stepping off the Golden Gate Bridge]
Nobody cried
Nobody even noticed
I saw them standing right there
Kinda thought they might care
[In the dream, she had expected other people people to be sad, or at least notice her suicide, but they did not]
[Pre-Chorus]
I had a dream
I got everything I wanted
But when I wake up, I see
You with me
[Chorus]
And you say
"As long as I'm here, no one can hurt you"
Don't wanna lie here, but you can learn to
If I could change the way that you see yourself
You wouldn't wonder why here
They don't deserve you
[Outside of the dream, her brother is comforting her and trying to keep her safe from suicide]
[Verse 2]
I tried to scream
But my head was underwater
They called me weak
Like I'm not just somebody's daughter
Could've been a nightmare
But it felt like they were right there
And it feels like yesterday was a year ago
But I don't wanna let anybody know
'Cause everybody wants something from me now
And I don't wanna let 'em down
[She does not want to let her fans down, although it is a lot of pressure for her]
[Outro]
If I knew it all then, would I do it again?
Would I do it again?
If they knew what they said would go straight to my head
What would they say instead?
If I knew it all then, would I do it again?
Would I do it again?
If they knew what they said would go straight to my head
What would they say instead?
[She is now wondering if she had realized how much her brother cared for her, and she were back on the bridge, if she would jump again or not. She is also wondering how people would treat her and talk to her differently if they knew that she was under a lot of pressure and what they said could have a large effect on her] -
I think what it means is that everything has a price like u can definitely tell that it’s a suicide dream but if she got “everything she wanted” then why would she fly which is why I think ot’s definitely a suicide dream but there is a price to everything like if she’s flying and she jumped then I think it’s her thinking about everything like (random example:) her family which is why she can’t fly her brother and family are stopping her

I think the song is about Billie's dream she clearly states that it was not everything she wanted it seems like its a suicidal dream since she jumps off the golden but it seems like others(friends) didn't care since no one cried or even noticed on falling from the golden gate bridge she tries to ask for help since she is drowning but no body went to her rescue and now here is where her brother comes in and assures her that as long as he is around no one would hurt her he tries to tell her that the people who I think are her friends don't deserve her since they don't see her value.I really love this song❤❤❤

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

so billie is now amazingly famous which is what she always dreamt of i guess so i think now that she has gotten what she always wanted she finds out that it has freaky and terrible consequences for it and hell nobody can deny that billies songs are deep as fuck "i had a dream i got everything i wanted not you'd think and if im being honest it might have been a nightmare" this might be when she finally realizes that being famous has harsh consequences "but when i wake up i see you with me" i think she is directing this to the people who support her through everything "i tried to scream but my head was under water" she isn't allowed to fully speak her mind cause no matter what she says there is always a negative outcome of it if she says "i like staring at fire" she just expressed her own thought but people might be like "eww you're fucked up or shit like that ...lol im tired of writing

I believe this song is explaining the life of a woman that was a go-getter to the point of exhaustion. She always had the goal of pleasing others, but what she failed to understand is that these people did not care about her. She never felt heard, important, or truly understood. She was breaking, but she didn't know how to break the cycle of overextending herself to only be left to feel even more alone.
Then something happened that connected her with her protector. This person insisted that she lay low and not associate with those people that were heavy on her energy. He's telling her that she's incredible, and when she realizes that, she won't want to associate with others the way she previously did. He is going to keep her safe as long as he is able. -
I think first of all her song gave great visual images. I can see her falling down a colorful river of abstraction and grasping in every direction, and then looking over at all of the people that were "right there".
-
I think the meaning of this song is about her in her dream thinking she could fly so she fell but then went down to the water. The lyrics "thought i could fly so i stepped off the golden" explains it. Nobody noticed or cared. "Nobody cried nobody even noticed" makes ut understand. So basically its about her having a bad dream of committing suicide
