Disturbed: A Welcome Burden Meaning
A Welcome Burden Lyrics
Heavy
You want it heavy
Welcome to my world feel the weight of it grinding down and
Heavy
I want it heavy
Welcome to my world feel the weight of it grinding down again
Gather your pathetic masses and bring them to me
To a world...

This song is about apathy between all of us,about others who steal, betray and murder and "good men" do nothing, only sit in,the corner and wait someone else to accomplish something. It is like a call of war against the all bad things(psycho,starving,robery...)
A "The Punisher" wake up call.
"Peace is at the surface, war is beneath it." -
It says the rape of the mother culture is what I need, so heavy is how he wants it.

I think this song refers to those who are addicted to lies, murdering, betrayal, and the "good" humans, doesn't try do nothing.Only watch and pray to God without do anything, and say everything is okey, but they know the truth. So in conclusion this song makes you to take action and do something for the World.
-
No. The song is, as David had said, a "call to arms" for lovers of heavy music.

I believe it has more than one meaning, the first being that it looked as though metal was going to die and metal fans, well don't wantt that, so that's where "heavy, you wanted heavy, welcome to my world feel the weight of it grinding down again" comes into play, then, the second meaning, refers to "mother culture" and how people see our world being torn to pieces and all we do is sit here and make it worse, we notice it, we just don't do anything which is where the "I kind of like it ugly" and "rape of mother culture is nearing" comes in, underneath we know "the truth is sickening" we just try to cover it up by saying everything is ok
-
The song is about how people think there lives are bad until forced to see other peoples lives and how bad it really can get, its also about how people lie and lie but it dosent change how things are, we can always see through the lies
