Disturbed: Criminal Meaning
Criminal Lyrics
When the vision paints my mind
Cross the invisible line
And you'll be paid in kind
Malevolent criminal, I
When the vision paints my mind
Cross the invisible line
And you'll be paid in kind
Hit It
HA HA

#1 top rated interpretation:This song is about "A vicious and tormenting past that a person can carry, but knowing that he/she must live with it forever.Have you ever been in a relationship that drives you to wanting to commit a crime? It just pulls the worst out of you. It's so intense and you can't really free yourself from it and it makes you do things you shouldn't want to do, to the extent of bringing on your own life's end just to be out of it."
-
I think it’s about somebody living in such mental or physical pain that they want to die. Asking for somebody to help them die.
-
I always took it as a song about a tease, won't let him get sexual release, lol.
-
Dont think of it as a cop being an " interrogater ". The most fearfull interigaton is when you look at yourself and you interrogate yourself, question your beliefs and what you have done. That.... is Disturbed.
-
Well, Ive always thought of it like a criminal under interrogation.
"Criminal the suffering, when we are alone". I think of an interrogator telling this person that what he did was wrong and against the law. Usually it is just the person and the interrogator in the room.
"Terrible and crippling, The pain is much more than, Physical beyond belief, When we're alone" Again the interrogator. Not all interrogations are mental breakdowns. Torture techniques are certainly physical.
"Despair has fallen over me, No way to hide the agony, Embracing my calamity, To save myself once and for all" He cant handle the interrogation anymore and is ready to die for his cause.
"Now you want to knowYou want a name, You want to call me motherfucker, Now you want to know,You want a name,You want to say it doesn't matter" Again interrogator forcing for the criminal to spill the beans.
"Now you wanna know Now you wanna name Now you wanna place Now you wanna time Now you want it all" Again same thing, the interrogator forcing the criminal to release information.
"With a message that I never want to send, To be free from all of this, I want you to quicken my end" He wants the interrogator to end his existence. He doesn't want to talk and would rather die for his cause.
"Don't tell me I can not go, With a wound that refuses to mend, Deliver me from all of this, I want you to quicken my end". Criminal just wants to die.
"Don't say that it isn't so, I'm on a path that you'll never comprehend, Set me free from all of this, I need you to quicken my end" Dont say the criminal's path is wrong. The interrogator wouldnt understand his viewpoint. He just wants to die.
Theres my viewpoint. It could just be because Ive been too long in the army. I dunno lol. I love this song anyway -
i think the song is about a terminally sick or critically injured person who wants out, asking for euthanasia.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
To me it sounds like a person, who is not able to endure all the pain any longer, calling a contract killer to "quicken my end".
-
Many people often give into peer pressure, surrendering their values and beliefs to fit in. Criminal gives the perspective of someone who either does not understand the law and why it is punishing them, or from someone who doesn't care anymore. People loathe him, but he has only done what others expect of him. By the end of the song, he is sick and tired of it, and rejects what anyone tells him.
He maybe asking for god to end his misery.
