Sacred Lie Lyrics

My conviction is stronger today as I fight to uncover your sacred lie.
And the fear isn't going away as the soldiers still die.
Did your followers know that their lives have been sold for the sake of your sacred lie.
For the truth to be told...

You're mostly right, but it's not about any particular war, just war in general, according to David, it "Deals with the horrors of the mutilation and damnation of war, the terrible cost paid in flesh, blood, and souls."

The song says about the world and wars
It has many meanings,When they say "Sacred lie" the first thing came to my mind is Hitler and Nazis who started a war for nothing that killed millions of soldiers and innocent civilians and children around the world and "Let your followers know their lives have been sold" is like how millions of Nazi supporters fought for Hitlers dream only to die.
"You'll get used to the sound of alarms in your life" this part says how leaders were safe when soldiers die for their dreams but one day they will be forced to go to the front lines or the front line is coming at them (How hitler was safe at berlin but the allies pushed the lines until berlin)

Thats not all during the Iraq war and many other wars the american government said they were protecting human rights(which is sacred)but when they went to war the victims were innocent civilians and children and how they died at the hands of americans they bombed schools but they are covered by lies saying they were only bombing military installations and by that it becomes a scared lie.

It seems to me that Sacred Lie is more than just any war, but the war before the second coming. In Christian theology, there is supposed to be a large war between all nations followed directly by the second coming of Christ. Hence the title Sacred Lie. Sacred being the keyword. Evidence for this conclusion lies in sentences such as "Damnation a moment away in all the world's eyes", "let your followers know that their lives have been sold" and "It's the doom of us all." The Sacred Lie is from the leader of the person talking in the song or the Anti-Christ. He lies against God and claims that the war is to protect the people from the religious people however the narrator has discovered that he is lying hence the line "as our brothers die defending no one." Now he has decided to oppose the Anti-Christ and this is found in the line "My conviction is stronger today as I fight to uncover your sacred lie." Now to Anti-Christ has total resolve to fight forever if he has to to destroy the Christians and Jews however the narrator asks peace via the line "Give us a moment of peace in our lifetime." The narrator also states that the Anti-Christ has dug the world into a pathway to destruction by saying "Don't you know the war is far from over now?" and "What a stumbling block we've fallen over now." With these pieces of evidence taken account of, the Sacred Lie is the lie that starts the war directly before the second coming.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I strongly believe this song is about war yes, but on a deeper level, religion and its negative affects. "Let you followers know that their lives have been sold for the good of your sacred lie." The sacred lie is religion. "Damnation a moment away in all the world's eyes." Many religious followers believe the world is on the verge of destruction. "As our brothers die defending no one." no one can be implied to be a god. The "war" can even mean atheism and theism, science, religion, the endless clash.

Well, I'll take a shot here and say this song PROBABLY does relate to the War in Iraq, to some degree or another.

"Don't you know the war is far from over now"

Or, loosely, Vietnam. Sending young troops to die in a pointless wild-goos-chase.

"Do your followers know that their lives have been sold for the sake of your sacred lie?"
