I agree it is about a conflict, likely between two men ("Will you be a man?"). But, then towards the end of the song, they say "Have we forgot it's your blood inside of my veins", which leads me to believe they are then stating this conflict between 2 men, was actually between a father and a son.

I believe the song is about conflict between people in general, about what we become and the things and mistakes we can make when we forget that the "enemy" is a human being just like us, and give away our love in exchange for an irrational and destructive hate

I see it as a divorce and how it tore the family apart. How they have to try to pick up the pieces and hide the scars of their past.
