   Simply put, "Roar" is talking about standing up for yourself. We shouldn't stay quiet about things and hold in how we feel, we should roar, or stand up for ourselves and be heard. That way, we will be floating like a butterfly, being free.

   I believe the lyrics mean that you can't keep quiet about how you feel or your views for the sake of others. Speak your truth.
   Also you can't depend on others to make your dreams turn to reality. Only you can do this. Maybe she had nobody believing her dreams as strongly as what she did and this is why she turn from "zero" to her "own hero".

    I wrote this song with josh and he’s nineteen, he wanted to be my girlfriend and I love him he’s talented and inspiring musician and he had a guitar with him and we’re writing this song with Olivia Rodrigo, she is the best, she’s seventeen. She’s about my brothers age she could be Matthews girlfriend I asked her a question about my vibe song and she asked my brother to go on a date with him. She’s so sweet and loving girl and she’s going to stay with me, and me and her are going to be sisters. And so she wrote the song roar, she had amazing voice and josh joined in and especially we hang out a lot. Me and josh, and Olivia are great friends and we talked and we’re great friends and I’m so lucky to have a boyfriend josh. He’s so sweet and nice and kind young man. I love him.
