Lady Gaga: Born This Way Meaning
Covered By: Glee Cast
Born This Way Lyrics
Just put your paws up
'Cause you were born this way, baby
My mama told me when I was young
We're all born superstars
She rolled my hair, put my lipstick on
In the glass of her...

So I agree with the general message of the song saying that everyone is born equal and deserves equal respect and rights. However if we are all born the same why do we end up different? It's because from the time we're born we all develop differently through different experiences and this affects how we act and react in different situations. Also, I know this will sound a bit contradicting to my first statement, but we are not all the same. We are born different physically and have different brains and hormone levels also affecting us.
Also there is the topic of the Church and God. I am Catholic. You would assume that i have prejudice to gays and bi people because I follow the teachings of the Church. But i don`t have prejudice. I accept the people for who they are and actually so does the Catholic Church. We accept gays and bi people and it is individuals who have prejudice. We do however have laws against gay marriage. This is because we believe that marriage is the ultimate sign of love and that through it we can have sex which is also a great sign of love. But mainly sex is for reproduction, and this is love by wanting to bring new life into the world to share in the love. So there is big controversy about gays and bi`s not being to get married in the Catholic Church. That is because when we get married we can have sex to reproduce. But if gay people have sex they cannot. The point is that if you can`t have a loving relationship without sex then it really isn`t love. So the controversy isn`t about marriage or love it`s about sex. Currently society thinks that sex can be casual and is normal outside of marriage. The Church disagrees and promotes chastity. Some people might say that the Church is trying to control us but chastity is about having will power and loving the person enough to be able to be with them without sex. In truth it is society that is trying to control us and by telling us to have sex freely and without remorse they break our wills and make us weak mentally.
Another important topic I’ve read about is that Lady Gaga says that people who worship Satan should love themselves and others too. (“capital HIM or Him”) Well technically that doesn’t work since the fundamentals of worshiping Satan revolve around hatred and prejudice. So they cannot love. But that doesn’t mean WE shouldn’t love them. We should not hate them and trample on them like they’re worse than we are. We should help them by showing them light and goodness. Now I would think of Jesus but not everybody is Christian or even religious. So find something else and help don’t hate.
So overall I agree with Lady Gaga’s message to love yourself and that everybody deserves to be treated equally but I think you should also think where you can improve. I don’t like how she targets the Church as bad but I do think it can improve with individuals and as a whole. So love yourself for who you are but remember you’re not perfect. And sorry if I ranted a bit and didn’t mean to offend anyone. -
Born This Way is about acceptance. She is saying that no matter religion, race, sexuality, or anything else, you desrve to be accepted. "It doesn't matter if you love him, or capital H-I-M" means that it doesn't matter if you have mortal idols or worship a deity, you are just as good as anyone else. "No matter black white or beige..." is talking about prejudice due to race. And (obvioudsly) "no matter gay..." is talking about your orientation. GaGa has a great point in telling us that God has a plan for everyone and we are perfect in our own way.

My Christian view on this is simplistic.
Him or capital HIM is the same him.
Read up on general references on GOD.
Secondly a Different Lover is not a sin.
God vs Jesus.
Just a thought! -
She means everyone should love themselves. Nobody should feel ashamed of who you are. If you're Gay, Lesbian, Bi,Straight...Whatever, you are who you are. No one, absolutely No one is allowed to say who you are. You choose. Whether you have your own style or follow the latest trends. Whether you are American, Indian, Irish, whatev, you are you!!!!! Don't be ashamed or afraid to let the world hear your voice. No one should speak for you. If you're being bullied for being yourself, then stand up and shout out, you can be whoever you want to be. If you're with me, rate this comment good. If you're not, then you must really think only the pretty people are getting it good. Don't Rate. Or whatev. But there are so many people in this world, is what Lady Gaga is saying. But we should respect them for who they are. I think everybody in the world should listen to this song. I know people who think gayness is bad. I'm not one of those people. When people grow up from age 5 and start thinking, is when they'll realize how people can't be who they want to be. They should stay true to themselves.
By the way this was written by an 11-year-old -
this song is totally explicit, everyone can understand quickly the message... love yourself, don't let to others neither hurt you nor decide over you because God made us like this and He doesn't make mistakes so love yourself and you're set...
imagine how much people hurts when they laugh about you or hit you because you're black either asian or chola, etc, specially in school, then this song say to you be brave, love yourself, be yourself and the haters should learn a lesson
I can't believe why some people could attack this song? how can they try of destroy sometning so pure so good like this lyric? this makes me remember of crucifixion, Jesus was crucified because he brough a good message -
Oy learn to take dictation. It would be 'Him' not "HIM" to anyone not bent on vilifying GaGa. And she uses 'paws' to describe hands since fans are 'little monsters' (unless she is a dur, haha)
And, IMHO, this song is about loving yourself whomever you are. Not just GLBT, but she mentions skin color too, twice where the GLBT thing is once (tho I like it heh). Also she brings up disabilities and teasing, as well as financial resources. It's. A feel-good, dance around your room song to lift your spirits and have you love.... you! -
WE
DONT
CHOOSE
TO BE
GAY.
IMAGINE YOU'RE A STRAIGHT BOY.... AND I TELL YOU, NOW... START LIKING BOYS. DECIDE TO LIKE BOYS, FEEL ATTRACTED BY THEM
COULD YOU?????
Well!!! NEITHER CAN WE! -

This song is about how it's not a choice to be gay, straight, transgender, or bi. Because people who are were "born that way" as the title of the song clearly states. It also clearly states that she believes in god however her beliefs do not follow the bible. You can believe in god and not the bible without "selling your soul to satan" When referring to the lyric "it doesn't matter if you love him or capital H.I.M" she's stating it doesn't matter if you love Jesus or satan or whatever. Religion doesn't change the fact that you are gay, straight, bi, or transgender. (which is also why you can't pray the gay away) Then she states "a different lover is not a sin, believe capital H.I.M" which means that if god truly believed that gays shouldn't be equal why would he make them? (which also explains the lyric "I'm beautiful in my own way because god makes no mistakes") and if he didn't believe they should have the same right as straights why would you want to believe and follow such a hateful person? She's stating that she would rather believe in H.I.M then someone who would be as unaccepting as god. But he's not! She's making a point. She's not a satanist or anything. She's just trying to make people see god isn't hateful against gays.

What I think she means is don't worry what other have to say be who you wanna be do what you want be free ! to be ashamed of who you are cause you were born this way baby !
-
when she's saying
"it doesn't matter if you love him or capital h-i-m"
i think she means it doesn't matter if you love him (as in you're gay) or capital h-i-m, as in "Him" (God)
so in other words, it doesn't matter if you're gay or if you follow the traditional rules of God by being straight... God made you ! -
"I'm beautiful in my way,
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way"
Surely that chorus is enough to tell you what the songs about. There is no hidden meaning. -
We should accept others for who they are and love them for who they are. It shouldn't matter about sexual lifestyle, race, or gender.
-
I believe this song means basically be yourself and accept yourself for who you are. It shouldn't matter what others think of you. My thought on Lady Gaga is she expresses herself in a very artistic way and I love that about her. She isn't afraid to show who she is and what she thinks.
-
I think it means if you believe in God or satin or any other form of a god then it does not matter as long as you are being yourself and I am a Christian and I am bisexual and I was born this way. God made me perfect because i know he makes no mistakes! :)
