Within Temptation: Aquarius Meaning
Aquarius Lyrics
break the silence and it calms me down.
A taste on my lips,
your salty kisses.
They say I'm seeking out the danger.
That one day you won't let me go.
I'll drown, you'll take me down.
Chorus:
I need you Aquarius,
enchanted I...
-
-I think the song is about how much the girl/guy is infatuated, and is in love with a person that is no good for her/him, and might be toxic to their well being. The toxic person is metaphorically described as being, Aquarius. This person is to be empowering, irresistibly tempting to lure and hook its victim in. The verse:
"They say I'm seeking out the danger.
That one day you won't let me go.
I'll drown, you'll take me down.
I relinquish
To your powers
From your grasp
I just can't hide
I missed the danger
I had to conquer
You made me feel alive."
-Just like the danger sea; when a big wave is coming towards a person's overhead, the person in fact shows how excited they will be when the waves washes her/him within it.
-The lover; Aquarius may be just exactly what the person wanted all along. Since the waters awaits the unknown dangers lurking underneath... and the person seeks the thrill of this. In the ending verse:
"I fear you, Aquarius
My destiny 'till the end"
-Her/Him learns at the end that the sea is vast, unpredictable, and can swallow one whole. Fear is learned to be away from this alluring call. -
I Think it's like in the older sailor songs.
The sea and a person are treated as one because the have the same attributes. Both the person and the sea are: calming, powerfull, dangerous and have the ability to break a peron. The Aquarius is used to reinforce the connection between sea and person. -
I think this song is about a girl who loves the ocean so much, she doesn't care if it hurts her. It might be using the ocean as a comparison for a relationship, but I see it much more simply.
