Billie Eilish: 8 Meaning
Song Released: 2019
8 Lyrics
I know you don't care
But, can you listen?
I came committed, guess I overdid it
Wore my heart out on a chain
Around my neck but now it's missing, hmm
Da-da-da-da-da-da
Da-da-da-da-da-da-da
Oh, hmm
So I think...

So, This song is my favorite song so far. And since I've been listening to it so many times, I've realized there were some hidden meanings/messages, so, here's my interpretation.
So, In the first lines, it says:
"Wait a minute, let me finish. I know you don't care, but can you listen?" This implies that the person dating Billie was about to leave her, but she insisted they listen to what she'll say before leaving.
In the lines:
"I came committed, guess I overdid it
Wore my heart out on a chain
Around my neck, but now it's missing"
This implies that Billie was loyal since she, and this person, started dating. She "wore her heart out on a chain" meaning she was trying her best to express how much she cares for this person, and she left her heart out, or simply she wanted this person to show how she truly feels about them, but this person stole her heart for no good reason, for the line "but now it's missing"
In the chorus:
So I think I better go
I never really know how to please you
You're lookin' at me like I'm see-through
I guess I'm gonna go
I just never know how you feel
Do you even feel anything?
She thinks that it's better to just let go of this person rather than have her being played around. "See-through" means that she was "invisible" to this person since this person did not care about her, at all.
In the lines:
You said, "Don't treat me badly"
But you said it so sadly
So I did the best I could
Not thinking you would have left me gladly
This means when she and the person started their relationship, the person sadly requested Billie to not treat them badly. She did the very best she could to satisfy this person, not knowing that they will still leave her. Which means they just simply used her, and cheated on her with another person.
The last lines we'll talk about are these:
I know you're not sorry
Why should you be?
'Cause who am I to be in love
When your love never is for me?
Me
SHe blamed herself for the damage this person has done. SHe thought it was her fault for loving this person 'carelessly"|
So yeah that's my interpretation lmao i hope u liked it

I’ve googled it a while back and it’s actually her putting herself in her boyfriend’s shoes. Her boyfriend loved her and Billie didn’t care for him, she just kept “looking at [him] like [he’s] see through”. The song was originally called “see through”, which would’ve made more sense but they changed it to “8” to be more interesting. Love you so much Billie!

its about how she likes a guy and he doesnt know who she is as he thinks shes "invisible'' but tries to get with him even though she has a girfriend
-
she gave her love to someone, and they didn't want it. "you're lookin at me like i'm see-through" he doesn't notice her. "i just never know how you feel" she can't read him. he's hard to figure out. "do you even feel anything?" to me, this has two meanings. 1. she can never tell how he's feeling. so is he basically emotionless? 2. does he feel anything for HER? "he said don't treat me badly. but ya said it so sadly. so i did the best i could. not thinking you would've left me gladly" she's trying to help this guy. she did. and it turns out... he just used her. "i know you're not sorry. why should you be? cuz who am i, to be in love? when your love never is for me." she's blaming herself. he didn't actually like her. so she thinks SHE'S the problem. SHE did something wrong. which is bullshit. he used her and all she can think about is why did he do that? there's gotta be something wrong with me. which there isn't. but that's just my perspective. Billie could've been writing abt something else. but that's just what i got from it :P
