Saying she is the anti christ is giving her too much credit... She is a nobody who feels the need to dress like a moron and tries to push the envelope anywhere she can to get attention, she is a lousy no talent singer who definitely has issues, I think she needs to quit getting so much media attention and start getting therapy... And yes I said it and I'll stand behind what I said... I know I'll get a lot of back
Lash for comment and I don't care.. -
Hmmmm I really don't take this song any particular way but one. I thought when she was singing about Judas that it stood for sin and that in today's chaotic world sometimes its a lot easier to do evil than good. Like when she says she "clings to Judas" I take it as not letting go of what your use to the comfort of Drugs, Sex, Greed, or even an abusive relationship or whatever one considers bad.It a lot easier to stay with the life you have and know regardless of how bad it is. But I don't know anything about lady gaga she creeps me out but just because she does doesn't make me think any less of her I actually didn't mind this song at all.

As much as I like Lady Gaga, I'm sorry but I highly doubt that she is a Christian. Yes you can believe in Jesus and God but if you don't follow him then and live righteously you can't claim salvation. In regard to homosexual stuff you guys have been talking about, she condones it in Born this Way - this in itself goes against biblical principles. I'm not trying to condemn her or anything but you can't claim to be a Christian if your life doesn't line up with the word of God. You can't serve the lusts of the flesh and God.

Ok for anonymous on Apr 16th, 11:16. Where the hell did you come up with such nonsense and so many gay references to the video? There was nothing acted out or mentioned in the lyrics about this being pro gay in any way. You really need to get a life cuz you've dissected this video like those crazy over exited Christians do the bible and there's no need for any of that. There was no mention of gays or adoption or mirage but was was clear from your interpretation is that you are soooo scared of gays and their progress in human rights and the goal for equality. Do us all a favor a get a life, Gaga is not taking down religion. No need to call the MORMON alarm, you can still keep your 10 wives Gaga won't take them either. WHAT A JOKE! Homophone religious people really need to get over themselves, really!

I (heart) gaga, I do, but she's really throwing me a I loop when she make songs like this and place a video along with it.. A good twist would've been for her to not do that video like that.. It does come across as disrespectful and mockful.. I do see how this song can be taken in both ways; religion and or relationships. Religion wise- she a holy fool, meaning she know she should follow and worship christ, but wants to be sinful and follow evil.. And she breaks it down when mainly seens like she would or did sell herself to the dark side for fame.. We all know gaga loves her fame and its the oldest trick in the book to get that easy fame from making one deal.. I hate to say it but it do be on my mind offen.. Ugh why gaga?? and another thing, at the end of the video... Along with "bringing him down", could be taken as she doesnt want people to follow christ anymore but to follow in her foot steps. Then she got stoned to death.. In the bible christ said let one without sin be the first to cast a stone (john 8:7), so what does that mean??? when she's done with this earth, there will be no sin.. All can live life as on please and not have to worry about god looking down on them?
relationship wise-
yes she couse be like christ and forgive this man over and over and love him knowing that his not right. And yes, believes, is christ, but that doesn't means she follow or worship him.. -
I think she's just confused, like us all. She admits giving in to temptation and wants out. I'm certain ALL Christians have felt that. Let's stop judging her and pray for her. Really, this is coming from a guy who has hated her policies and influence, but now sees she's basically struggling with the same things we all do, only more people know her. Once again, stop judging - pray. Anti-religious hacks can stow it.

what are you guys saying? jeepers. Look. Lady gaga is a satanist. she hates jesus. what we (christians) are trying to say or do. Is protect ourselves. IF YOUR NOT A CHRISTIAN, GET out of this conversation.. you dont know lady gaga.

These lyrics are not about religion! The Judas biblical story is a metaphor for her plight with her unfaithful and cruel lover.
She can't stop loving him even though she realizes it is wrong to do so. Gaga also talks about how she has prostituted herself for fame; yet she says that her fame has given her a platform on which to speak her mind and display her art. The artist implies that the true meaning and value of her work will be realized in the future. -
i wonder wen i see people callin theirselves christain and say they love gaga music....christain means christ like, Jesus Christ will never like sure kind of music. She is tryin to gain attention by been blashpemous....she is not christain so stop been deceived wen she said so...she is tryin to mak christain see notin wrong in been blasphemous wen she does this stupid things and say she a christain

well,i think there's no need to interpret the song as a song to kill the Christianity or the church, and i think its so foolish to regard her as a messenger of the antichrist...she's a talent, that's her music...she has chosen a biblical subject for her new album. i think she did this to be the subject of discussion and arguments, and she did it,congratulations gaga...

it is possible that she has externalized an inner conflict. she has borrowed biblical figures to make the struggle come to life - so that she can actively embody it in order to share it with her audience.
through her wonderfully elaborate cryptic verses, images, and (perhaps most expressively) the dance, she invites us inside of her self, where she is at war. perhaps we are all at war with ourselves.
the figure of judas embodies her vices, her weaknesses. everyone has their addictions. the brave thing is that through this song she is declaring her love in defiance of her judges, the multitudes of critics raging outside and inside her skull. she defiantly accepts her whole self, breaking the binary opposition she has set up using the triangular relationship of jesus-gaga-judas.
she wants to be pure and good, but she recognizes her full self - her inadequacies, her lies, her materialistic and earthly desires. she wants to be good, but she's still in love with her vices. though they are cruel, though they repeatedly overwhelm her like the crashing wave. though she punishes herself in the extreme - the stoning at the end - she's still in love with her demon she clings to.
there are many other complex dualities set up in the poetry of the text and in the way the video is shot.
she holds a gun up to judas and instead of literally shooting him - she puts lipstick on him. she makes herself up to be the lie, to become "lady gaga," and this is a kind of death. this embodies a conflict of public and private self that everyone has. though judas kisses jesus' cheeks, he will betray him. these are her two opposing selves. jesus tries to love judas despite his knowledge that he is a traitor - judas will betray jesus for money. she tries to embrace herself despite her awareness of her patterns of self-betrayal.
there is a shot in the hot tub in which she is divided in two. she is trying to embrace her goodness (praying to jesus) as she is simultaneously treating herself like trash (having beer poured on her ass). as a successful artist (forgive the paradox) she is torn between art/truth and money/fame/lies. but lies are a great way to tell the truth. -
Honestly, I think everyone should quit trying to determine whether or not Lady Gaga is a Christian. The state of her soul is NOT up to us so don't even go there.
I also think, after listening to this song and reading through the lyrics and all your opinions, that the song no doubt had some sort of intended meaning whether it be about religions or boyfriends or whatever. I'm sure she wrote it with a specific meaning but the fact that it is not clear what that specific meaning is due to metaphors, etc, I think its open to be interpreted however the listener interprets it. But I don't think that she wrote it so that people could bash religion, or shove religion down anyone's throat for that matter. So I say just listen if you like it, don't bother if you don't. I'm thinking I'm more on the don't like it side. -
if she didn't meant it to be controversial, den why must she always use religions? she knows that religion is a sensitive issue and yet again and again her songs are always linked to satanism. and how come i don't see her using other religions like buddhism, islam and other cults? why just christianity?

um to the person who commented on Apr 16th, 13:13 In Lady Gaga's Video she put peter/simon in it and showed them and the 9:25 commenter didn't say judas betrayed jesus she said jesus was betrayed 3 times but she didn't state who so maybe you should learn how to read : )
-
People who claim that she is a Satanist are just ignorant. Yes, perhaps she should have chosen a different metaphor, but whatever - she's a grown woman with a huge music career. Let's face it - I seriously doubt that any of yall will ever be as successful as her. She can do stuff like this if she wants to, and so can many other artists. If you don't agree with it, don't listen to any of her music. Just move on. It's not that big of a deal.
