The entire song is basically about her putting Judas in a Jesus' place. It's EXTREMELY sacreligious. She's trying to get herself denounced?

This song is of the devil. The devil works in the most discrete ways, slowly poisoning our brains. Song may seem harmless at first, but that's the whole purpose. Just do yourself justice and not pollute your mind with this trash.

I think she's bashing mainstream Christians with this song. Especially when you watch the video, you see her clinging onto the mock Jesus and throughout the video she has a longing for the Judas guy and they're 'flirting' behind Jesus's back. In my opinion, I think she's trying to portray mainstream Christians and how they talk the talk and seem to walk the walk but they don't.

It is stupid to try to interpret her lyrics and I'll tell you why - they probably don't mean anything; she probably doesn't know what they mean. She is just choosing the most controversial stuff to sing about and to say and do so that she can get more publicity and become more famous. Think about it - it's already working so well for her. Look how much this song is talked about. Also, do you really think Lady GaGa is sitting around with a notebook and a pen writing songs?! No way - she has a whole team of people who write these songs, plan when to release them - everything. Don't you think its strange that "Judas" was released right at Easter time?? That was all planned. These people are geniuses and everyone is falling right into their money/fame trap.

I think the song is about communicating with the religious groups about her support for gay equality.

“When he comes to me, I am ready
I'll wash his feet with my hair if he needs
Forgive him when his tongue lies through his brain
Even after three times, he betrays me
I'll bring him down, bring him down, down
A king with no crown, king with no crown”

So this is Jesus who is so ready to love everyone. He is willing to treat “Judas” the way how believers worship him, even “after three times he betrays me”. As “a king with no crown”, he is ready to use his love to “bring him down”.

    “I couldn't love a man so purely
Even prophets forgave his crooked way
I've learned love is like a brick you can
Build a house or sink a dead body
I'll bring him down, bring him down, down
A king with no crown, king with no crown”

But for Judas, he doesn’t believe one can love another so purely because love is not always about… love, like a brick that “can build a house or sink a dead body”. He is not convinced by the love and is ready to bring “the king with no crown” down.

I think it is not about accurately reflecting the story from the Bible. But rather, it sets up the context and explains the other side of the argument in response to why “he's so cruel”.

Then, the song moves to another layer.

    “In the most Biblical sense,
    I am beyond repentance
Fame hooker, prostitute wench, vomits her mind
    But in the cultural sense
I just speak in future tense
    Judas kiss me if offenced,
Or wear an ear condom next time”

That is pretty much about Lady Gaga. Based on the values from the Bible, she is “beyond repentance” as she is a “fame hooker, prostitute wench” and she “vomits her mind” (vomit!). But in the modern world, she is just holding on what she believes. People can either kiss her or wear an “ear condom next time”.

And finally, she reveals her deep respect and love.

    “I wanna love you,
But something's pulling me away from you
    Jesus is my virtue,
And Judas is the demon I cling to”

The reference to the real world has been put very plainly now. She wants to love what Christianity represents, but there is “something is pulling” her away. Jesus represents the virtue in humanity. But the evil Judas represents and condemned by Christianity is also part of the humanity. She cannot just deny part of herself and therefore she fells the disagreement.

Based on the theme set up by Born This Way and her advocacy for LGBT civil right movement in US, my personal interpretation is this song is a statement she tries to send to the religious groups. It is not really proactive. It just explains her perspective. The religious groups might think they are following the example Jesus has made. They are just spreading the love and eliminate the evil. However, the resistance they face is because what they consider evil and intolerable really is the natural reaction when one is trying to hold on her identity. For LGBT population, even they cherish the virtues just as religious groups, they have no space to back down as, really, they are born that way.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

To all those people stating "Lady Gaga herself has said she believes in God", check out James 2:19.

"You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder."

To say you believe in God means nothing. To say you believe in God,that he raised Jesus from the dead and you want to follow him, THAT means something.

I see this song as a metaphor for people's natural attraction to sin. We knowingly do wrong and it doesn't stop us. It doesn't mean that you're not a Christian if you sin. It just means that your not perfect, which is the basis of the religion. We accept that we're not perfect. To Christians, only Jesus is perfect. Our perfection is in our relationship with him. Judas's name is synonymous with sin and blasphemy. She also alludes to Peter when talking about rejecting jesus 3 times showing that Judas is not the only person who wronged his own lord. She could also be talking about Jesus' unconditional love for even those who wrong him horribly. She seems to be talking about herself as if she is Jesus when talking about being betrayed three times since that's what happened to Him. Jesus forgives and loves Judas despite his betrayals. Lady Gaga is known for loving everyone no matter who or what they are so it makes sense that she would talk about this. Also she likes to make biblical allusions in her songs since they are so shocking. The controversy brought about by her songs sheds light on the issues that are written between the lines in her songs. You listen for the shock of hearing "im in love with judas." The intrigue brought on by those lines get people to pay attention to her. I am a little monster!

It's Funny when all of a sudden everyone is a christian and every other thing is just a blasphemy. If you think its a blasphemy and its wrong them why take the time to listen to it, look up the lyrics, analyze it and comment about it? If it were really as bad as one may think, and if one was really a super duper christian then they would ignore it and leave it alone, one has better things to do, like reading the bible or praying.

Music cant just be interpreted by reading the exact same words that are presented. Artists use, personification, simile, metaphors, and others to make their music mean many different things than just words. I'm not defending her song, or against it. there are some I like there are some I don't, but she was trained and had studied for what she is right know, and people who study have a broad way of saying things between the lines. So if you think its about religion and offends you, just don't listen to it. If you like it, well enjoy it.

First of all she can sing about a past relationship using another kind of metaphor this is kinda insulting Honestly I respect God and all types of religions and if somebody doesn't believe in it they better should stay away from the "religious" topic I respect every single opinion and I think that everybody has the right to give the song a meaning

Okay, in all honesty this song isn't AS BAD as you think.. but that doesn't make it a good song at all. From what I gathered by listening to it a few times (since I'm not one to judge before actually having an understanding of it or giving something a chance) The lyrics are simply that she wants to love Jesus and believe, but that it's just too hard to do in these times. She's still in love with the evil in the world and she doesn't think she wants to give that up as much as she does love Jesus.. which is possible regardless of what anyone tells you. She obviously understands that she's a sinner.. she doesn't believe that the things she has done with her life can be forgiven. I think she's just confused right now. And to answer why she'd make a song like this public.. only she knows. That was a horrible decision and she was asking for another war between select few christians and select few gaga followers. Notice I said "select few" because not all christians are going crazy about this, and just the same as people who aren't christian.

Lady gaga loves God. She has said so, but she may not think the same as many Christians. Many Christians are against gay's and their lifestyle, and they do because in the bible it says to. But we also say God made you the way you are to be go you are. Aren't we going against what we Kay said? That's what Lady Gaga challenges. She says we can be different and still be loved by God, which is something that is preached everywhere! That God forgives all people. In this song, in my opinion, Judas represents her. Or anyone who has "betrayed" God, (Gays (As the bible says) prostitutes all people who live the wrong life) and how while they are different, they still live God. She says "Jesus is my virtue, Judas Is the demon I cling to" which is self explanatory to what I justsaid. Lady Gaga is staging a revolution to where people can live themselves the way they are and love God at the same time. Those set in their old ways will condemn her but those willing and understanding of change will join her cause.

Ok. She's a singer. An AMAZING singer! She has brilliant songs with incredible lyrics but people are often putting false meaning to these lyrics. She's a woman. She's not some all powerful satanic being like people try to make out. I'm a Christian and I have seen her live twice and intend on seeing her as many times as possible! I love her and she herself is also Christian so she is not trying to brainwash people into satanism through her music.

I believe that what she is trying to say in this song is that she finds herself preferring to be bad rather than good. She says that she is in love with Judas and Judas is a symbol of sin. She says 'Jesus is my virtue' I believe this means that she wants to be good and inspirational to people but finds it hard by saying 'Judas is the demon I cling to' which shows that she finds it hard to live without sin.

I don't think she is trying to be satanic or brainwash others.

Each to their own though I suppose!

Okay, lets just say this video was redone by another artist. This artist will script role of a Gay man to play Judas. The role of a Straight man will be played by Jesus. In the video the role of Jesus would depict a man of purity and love. The role of Judas would depict a man of deception and impurity.

In the song we will use GaGas visual concept but changing the songs lyrics to make reference to Judas, as evil and unholy one. Jesus, the straight character, will be depicted as the rightgeous and holy one.

Do you think she would find it offensive or creative? Do you think that she would feel that the gay community was being attacked or disrepected because the video was scripted as a metaphor for how the artist really feels about homosexuality? Keep in mind that this SAME artist who has redone the song, speaks about equality and freedom of choice. FREQUENTLY.

Would you be a little confused about this artists true intentions?

How do you use something that is important to millions of people around the world and make a mockery of it for your personal pleasure. Just because its not your belief does it make it ok to make a negitive reference to it in a majority of your work? If you really believe in freedom belive in freedom in all things including religion. Do you think that GAGA does not know that it may offend a persons religious choice or lifestyle? Somehow these acts are translated to "artistic creativity" huh..?

Is it ok to attack religion, or sexual preference by using your creative methods just because you dont believe in the religion or sexual preference???

I dont think artist is serious about equality, freedom of speech and freedom of choice. It looks like hippocracy to me. Gays AND christians should never have to watch a video or hear a song that offends their freedom of choice!!!!!!!

Your no better than the religious fanatics that call you the antichrist. You are just like them!!!! Wake up GAGA.
