I don't think she's necessarily anti-religious or anti-christian. I think she's more anti-control. Her songs are filled with calls for freedom; for breaking shackles. She's not necessarily saying that it is religion that is bad. She is saying it is these forms of control, like overly strict religious organizations, which are bad. They hamper our freedom.
Also, she says "Jesus is my virtue and Judas is the Demon I cling to." There are other lines within the song which seem to suggest she isn't defaming Jesus. The opposite in fact. It seems she may be talking about humanity and how imperfect it is. How Judas is the betrayer, but he is still forgiven and how she wants to be better but it is human nature to fall.

This is a comment on the number one interpretation.

Whats funny is that Judas betraying Christ and being crucified was the beginning of Christianity, not the end of religion like she says.

Tuesday, April 12, 2011Gaga explains the meaning behind 'Judas' + Lyrics revealed

April 19th is the day of reckoning, for it's the day that Auntie Gaga will unleash her second single Judas off her highly anticipated Born This Way album due out May 23rd.The song is described as being stupid, noisy, audacious, brash, bombastic, pop and funny in all the right ways. The base of the song is about being double crossed by her significant other with lyrics like ,"Even after three times he betrays me....bring him down, I'll bring him down down, a king with no crown, a king with no crown...I'm just a holy fool but baby oh baby he's so cruel, but I'm still in love with Judas, baby"...She later goes on to belt out ,"In the most Biblical sense, I am beyond repentance. 'Fame hooker, prostitute wench, vomits her mind... But in the cultural sense I just speak in future tense. Judas kiss me if offensed, or wear an ear condom next time."

    |SIGH|....
One more week for the ejaculation of this song.I cannot wait.THIS lady has my best interest at heart. Her mind is on my menu of life.

The Gaga also sat down with Popjustice to dissect the song's meaning and peel off the complexities of a woman scorned in this Q&A.
    Interview taken from Popjustice.

    What is the BPM?
Somewhere in the region of 130. Yes, you will be dancing to this song.

Is it actually about Judas out of The Bible or is it pretending to be about Judas when in fact it is about something else?
The first time Lady Gaga played us the tune she told us that in broad terms it was about being in love with the worst guy you've ever met, but as you might expect there's more to it than that. "It's about leaving your darkness behind in order to come into the light," she added the other day. "I have a lot of things that have haunted me from my past - choices, men, drug abuse, being afraid to go back to New York, confronting old romances - and Judas represents, for me, something that is bad for me that I can't escape. I keep going back and forth between the darkness and the light in order to understand who I am." So, very broadly, the main portion of the song is about Gaga in private and the middle eight is about Gaga in public, two themes that are explored elsewhere on the album too

Judas=fame. I think the song is about fame and its attraction for Gaga even though she sees the destructive effects it can have on people's lives. It is a master that she will always serve even though it is very painful sometimes and it betrays her even more often. She desires it above all else. I believe she uses the example of Judas and Jesus because it conveys her devotion more poignantly than any other example. Plus, it is, of course, very provocative.

Whoever wants an interpretation of this song must read the bible and that will give an exact interpretation... Those who are deffending Gaga are obviously locked down with the catchy song and very well said @ Matthew 19:23-24 says : Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven! Again I say, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter into the kingdom of God.”

the richness blinds people 'cause they can have now what they want and when they want...but what happens at the of judgement? There will be no richness that will save yo then

I'm a devout christian and I still find personal value in the song.

I interpret it as when someone knows they are sinning, but cannot help but do it anyway. We are human and cannot help but sucombe to sin.

It reminds me of when I know what i'm about to do is a sin, but still cannot help but do it anyway.

We cannot help but cling to some of our sins like she claims to jesus, even when we know we know what we are doing is bad

i don't care if this isn't what she had in mind, because this interpretation has helped me grow in my faith so watever bitches

it's her right to say what she pleases.
I would hate a bunch of bored people telling me what to do with my life and art. Just don't listen to it. It's your choice to listen as well as hers to create it. Feel comfortable enough with your own religion to see there is no threat in this pop star for the Christian race. And if we allow one song to bring down the "empire" we call Christianity, what a pathetic group of followers you are.

If she wanted to create a song about her exboyfriends and her past, she could have used anything. She used the person that betrayed Jesus and glorifed him by doing so. It is very offensive that she would actually use the person that betrayed Jesus, a name that is thought of as evil as soon as it's heard, to write a song about. I was the biggest Lady Gaga fan that I knew, but she has taken it too far. Wasn't America founded by Christians so that they could have freedom to worship God the way that they wanted to? They didn't do this to have freedom to worship any other type of religion, just different forms of Christianity. People have distorted what really matters, and they will figure it all out a little too late...

This song reveals TOO MUCH Illuminati. And I agree about the part that is VERY confusing. >.< If Lady Gaga was really a Christian, then I would not be hearing such weird songs about love+sex and many others. Now, I'm hearing something related to religion, which is a REALLY SENSITIVE topic. I used to like Lady Gaga's songs, but now I really don't like the feel of where all her songs are leading to. It's far too ominous.

FYI, just in case you guys have NO idea, Judas had been instigated by Satan to betray Jesus! If Judas was really the bad guy and did it upon his own accord, then why would he change his mind some time later and say that he betrayed innocent blood?! It does not make sense! Given this, WHY would ANYONE love Judas?!

Its a song, get over it.
Religion is a man made thing, and is for anyone to believe or not to believe. I choose not to believe it, as i will not spend my short time on this earth believing in something that i dont even know exists, nor does anyone else truly know if 'it' is real or not. Lady Gaga is amazing, and so are her songs, if you dont like them, dont listen to them, grow up.

Yeah sure she may believe in "a God" someone who believes in the true God would not be so disrespectful. She may have said this is about past relationships, but who is to say she's not a liar? It's subliminal, the weak minded are swayed by her lyrics.

Lady Gaga.. Where to begin.. Sorry if I dont write this perfectly as my first language is not English but I'll do my best.

I wish Lady Gaga read all your comments, they are reaaally good.

I'm not going to judge, I respect her point of view and I can understand how angry she is with the Church. There's a lot of people who believe in God, but doesn't believe in the Church. All her problem is the unacceptance of Gay people in society. Well, I dont agree with that neither, because it is a sort of racism and I know its not fault's people to be gay. They are born that way and we should respect where people looks for their own happiness. But here the problem is, that as she wants other people to respect gays, she should also respect the Church. Ok, maybe she is not a catholic, she is not a Christian, but that's their point of view and you should respect it. The church hates gays, but she is doing the same hating the church. So that's not very smart from her. And it really bothers me the way she always uses Church meanings in her songs or videos. Why? This is bullying. She is kind of mocking! I mean.. She ate a rosary in Alejandro.. And she says she wanted to take in to the Holy.. Believe me Gaga, you're not going to heaven just because you ate a Rosary.. And it really bothers me also the way she speaks about God in interviews, she keeps saying that she thanks God... Why? Why do you do it??? It's not funny! I really get your point that you don't believe in him and anything, I respect it because that's the way you want to see it, I'm not fan of the Church neither but stop making fun of it, I loved you when you were Just dance and Brown Eyes, Fooled me again.. NORMAL topics.. But why do you attack the Church? There's a lot of people who is not even catholic and still hate gay people.. You can't make 7 billion people think how YOU want them to think. We're all different, BTW I'M GAY... And I thank you for your Gay revolution, But this is not against church.. if you want people to love us,you start loving first.

This song has a better message than it looks like, is just about someone in a sad love relationship who wants break because it hurts a lot... her lover is not a good person and she knows it but is hard because she really loves him

Oh-oh-oh-ohoo I'm in love with Juda-as, Juda-as we can repalce this part for "traitor"... I'm in love with a traitor traitor.. (this is equal to say judas, someone who doesn't deserve her love)

When he comes to me, I am ready I'll wash his feet with my hair if he needs Forgive him when his tongue lies through his brain Even after three times, he betrays me
(despite everything his lies, the betrayal, disappointment, she forgives him again and again)

I'll bring him down, bring him down, down A king with no crown, king with no crown

She knows he is someone bad and that he doesn't love her actually, then she promises to herself don't forgive him anymore, He won't be her king anymore

I'm just a Holy fool, oh baby he's so cruel But I'm still in love with Judas, baby

She is inocent, her love is pure but she is in love with a bully man, someone who doesn't deserve her love

I couldn't love a man so purely Even darkness forgave his crooked way I've learned love is like a brick, you can Build a house or sink a dead body

she is so disappointed with her lover, and with love,,, now she thinks love is sometimes bad and unfair, is not always like fairy tales

In the most Biblical sense, I am beyond repentance Fame hooker, prostitute wench, vomits her mind But in the cultural sense I just speak in future tense Judas kiss me if offensed, Or wear ear condom next time

this is her aclaration... she is not speaking about religious stuff, she is speaking just in future tense, she is fall in love with someone who mistreats to her but no one helps her, everyone condem to her by forgive her bully boyfriend

I wanna love you, But something's pulling me away from you Jesus is my virtue, Judas is the demon I cling to I cling to

only one person understands her pain and tryes to help her... the true love of Jesus is trying of save her from that bad romance... (Jesus's teachings are helping her)
