I'm not going to try to interpret this because it is very confusing...

BUT I just wanted to say I am sorry to Lady GaGa and anyone else who has been called out (being called anti-christ, satin worshiper, or someone condemning you to hell or something) by Christians.

I am a Christian myself and these things are not for us to decide its God who judges in the end... not Christians

So I would just like to say sorry and I pray that you may see true love from Christians, reflecting the love they have from God

Right. Firstly to the 12-year-old "reborn" christian, please learn to spell.
I'm 13 and also Christian but, I'm sorry, I don't see why every other Christian has been getting angry over this. Honestly, I don't care that she's made this song, good for her. Because, if there is a God, and heaven and hell (yeah im a Christian but Im still debating it)Then it's not ME going to hell, its not me thats "worshipping the devil" so why should I care? to be honest I don't even think it is connected to bringing down religion but if it is I couldn't care less...it's none of my business who she worships...

How amazing is this woman who creates songs like this? She did what she set out to do-to make us question:question the lyrics, question her, and question what we know....Amazing, and good work Gaga <3

My interpretation is that she is a somewhat catholic as she says but doesnt know that yu cant pick things from the bible to believe in and chyange it to say being gay is okay. i am a christian as my family and i do agree tht she does change opinions. before i knew of her i hated gays but now... well im not sure i dont mind them as much. so i highly doubt she is completely defying God like that and just to let yu kno when, in born this way, she says HIM she is in fact referring to God not satan. in judas i agree tht she used stories of things people did in the bible to talk about a boyfriend, judas. but none of us will know because we did not write the song she did so the opinion sways with the real story behind the lyrics. if any of yu have her number or a way to contact her... well i could tell yu tht yud be my new best friend.!! and p.s. i thot her concert was fantastic she put on a great show.. other than those scissor sisters or whatever.!

dude, lady gaga says things that not everyone has the fcking guts too. maybe you dont agree with her, i dont. well, at least not for this specific song but seriously, its her music, and if it doesnt affect YOU and your relationship with God then who the hell cares? get over it. look, this song might be offensive to you, but im sure lady gaga didnt write it to hurt your feelings or whatever. music is about self expression and religoun and beliefs dominate some of the ways you express yourself. the lyrics might not be completly respectful, but be a better person and just ignore them if you dont like them. if you have nothing nice to say, then dont say anything.
    so all the haters, stfu

    Okay just a thought..
if she is in fact a "satanist" why does she clearly state.. "JESUS IS MY VIRTUE"?!

    now this is just my interpretation;
i think she is saying that she doesnt want to like the things she likes, but she cant help it...

just like bisexuality, homosexuality.. you cant help it, you know its against Christianity but you just cant help who you are..

stop saying that she is a satan worshiper, NOWHERE in the song did she even MENTION Satan.. instead she states "Jesus is my virtue"

She isn't by any means trying to offend anyone or hurt anyone in any way. She may have made a poor decision on publishing the song at this time. Her music is just like art, they do it for themselves, the way they perceive it not necessarily what the listener perceives. She has told us what it means and that is how she sees it as. Our imaginations are running to far if you think this is some conspiracy. She only had the best intentions, for some of us we want to find fault in everything she does. That is not right.

People are reading wwaaaaaayyyyyyy to far in to this. It's about past relationships. Don't try to make it more than it is. I thought good Christians don't judge. Only God can judge.

It is about Maria Magdalena being in love with judas even though she knows he’s evil or misguided. She prays to Jesus, she wants an answer of why or how to stop loving him. She had a bad past, because she was a prostitute before Jesus saved her. Being a prostitute is super degrading in the biblical sense. Still she wants to know if she has a chance its something that is planned. She loves Judas and wants a future with him, and wants to know if she even has a chance, if Judas’s destiny can be changed. She was so in love with him she was ready to wash his feet with her hair. She knows he is a liar, and a cheater, but she still forgives him. She thinks she can change him. Her love was pure for Judas. She knows that love is hard, that it can hurt or be amazingly great. She loves him and thinks she can change him. She loves Jesus too, and she is going to be with him, but she loved Judas too. Basically without the religious characters the song is about a girl that likes two boys, one of them is the sweetheart, and the other is the bad boy. She loves them both, but knows that if she wants to be happy she will choose the sweetheart.

i'm sure there isn't a meaning, she probably wrote this song to piss everyone off and create controversy like she did with her meat dress...

First Things first: Gaga has the GOD given privilege to say what she wants how she wants.

I have the God given right not to like it. :)

    -Be blessed

    I doesn't seem really complicated to me : /
It may use some biblical references, but I just think it's a song about a former lover ( Judas ), who keeps betraying her, even though she still believes in their love; And her struggle between the bad guy and the good guy ( Jesus ).
Her faith and love for him, make it hard for her to leave him, even though she knows he'll keep hurting her and the easier thing would be to turn to the good guy.

God people stop reading Too much into stuff. -_-

I don't know if the majority of you people saying that she's the anti-Christ, devil worshipping, leader of damned masses, realize that there are these things in music and in literature and in many forms of popular expression known as METAPHORS. By taking the song at face value (assuming that it is ONLY about Jesus and Judas), you're being naive and shallow.
This song, though it is using the idea of Judas, the ultimate betrayer, it's not about him or Jesus, or the religion itself. In the song she says Jesus is her virtue.
This song is about staying in love with someone who's done you wrong. They are the ultimate evil and yet you still cling to them. She's a "Holy Fool" because she can't shake the evil.
Beyond that, it's about the other demons in life you cling to. She's had issues with drugs and other things and yet she needs to draw on them. She knows she needs to purge herself of the evil but she can't. Again, the "holy fool" is still in love with her demons.

Of course, because someone uses any sort of biblical language in a song, it IMMEDIATELY abandons all sort of art and is ABSOLUTELY about the words used, right?
