Lady gaga is part of a cult, it is shown in her alejandero video. In this song she isn't speaking of worshipping the devil, she's speaking of taking God down and metaphorically saying she is like a god or is a god.Judas is satan and he is represented as her leader and lover in this song. I am a christian and when I heard this song it hurt my spirit. I will not argue or hate on anyone elses opinion of this song, but I did some deep research on this, not to prove a point, but to state a fact. She is a lost soul who everyone gives attention to. She is an example of why this country is so messed up and our generation is so disorriented...

i feel that this is simply an admittance of our human desire to walk the wrong path and the battle back and forth between the holy and profane

    "I wanna love you
But something's pulling me away from you
    Jesus is my virtue
And Judas is the demon I cling to
    I cling to"

    anyone else feel the same?

I too grew up Catholic. I'm a poet who left Catholicism 24 years ago at 19yo who nonetheless knows how it can inform your art. Rightwingers are jumping all over Lady Gaga's "Judas," but they need to pop a valium and relax. Fusions of the erotic and spiritual in popular music are as old as Tori Amos, Madonna, Marvin Gaye, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, etc. They double-charge a song and give it energy and controversy. First of all, "Judas" is catchy as hell. Its production, with its clean fat synth sounds and full gang vocals, is state of the art. Gaga grabs Madonna's provocateur crown in lyrics that view a romantic relationship through Biblical references to Christ's interactions with Peter (three denials), Mary (foot washing), and Judas (betrayer of Christ).

Any reason for this besides stoking controversy? Gaga's attraction to "Judas" is nothing she's very proud of or comfortable with. She's torn between the loyal man you should marry and the straying backstabbing bad boy like many women...and between Catholicism and its alternatives like many modern people.

I personally dont know why anyone would want to listen to her. Her message is do what makes you happy and makes you feel good. But is that always right? Her last album was all about sex and all kinds of garbage, and now she is trying to act like she loves God. You can't say that you love God and sing about everything that He stands against. Everyone is going to serve someone, weather God or the Devil, your serving someone.

hey! I don't think she is the antichrist. I watched a lot of documentaries about this so called antichrist, which I believe in, but they said that you wouldn't even think of the antichrist as the antichrist because he or she is so seemingly honest and kind. So since we're already suspecting her of being an antichrist, I think she's not it.
Still figuring the song out. But that's what lady gaga has, she let's people think, not hard, real hard. Wahaha! if I get a good interpretation I'll post it. :) peace out!

Okay, I believe everyone is looking into this WAY TOO MUCH.
I believe this song is the hypothetical and metaphorical ballad for a girl that is very religious, but she still falls for the sinner, causing her to sin as well.

I think that about summarizes it. I don't believe she is trying to overturn Christianity at all. Goodness, people.

Ok, this is so overwhelming, why do so many people get so defensive about religion, and why does everything have to have one absolute meaning? The song means whatever you want it to mean & however it is that you yourself interpret it and can apply it to life, and that is the beauty of art.
    Commented at april 17, 7:56

People get so offensive about religion because God is our Father. He knows the depths of our hearts. We love Him and I know many people including me would put my life on the line for Him. So it is obvious that we would also defend His good name. If Lady Gaga meant the song to be about old boyfriends. Then there is no reason she should have written a song like this discriminating our Lord God. It clearly has two meanings for it and in order to keep her fame by her many fans, she cannot say that it is also a song the is putting the Lord's name in vain and in a sense worshiping the devil. Yet if her goal was to get publicity, she got it. And not necessarily the good kind. This is a very offensive song and should be not be sold anywhere.

The person who commented on April 16th, 11:57. The first commenter who referred to everyone else as "sheep" is because it is said in the Bible multiple times that God is our shepherd and we are His sheep.

"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." John 10:11 (NIV)

Isaiah 40:11 He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

Ezekiel 34:11 "'For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them.

John 10:2 The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep.

John 10:14 "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me--

Hebrews 13:20 May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep,

1 Peter 2:25 For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

Revelation 7:17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

We find quotes from the Bible about The Lord God being our shepherd and we(all of mankind) being His sheep or lamb.

"wow. BTW, people who are hypocritical and claim that everyone is sheep...isn't it strange that a "large" group of being following what one thing says is also considering being a follower or sheep. think about it."
^^ the fact that you would even say that is just silly. It shows your obvious lack of knowledge of the Bible.

GaGa can "believe" in God as she told someone at one of her concerts. Satan "believes" in God too. Satan's mission is to decieve and destroy. I pray for her lost soul and anyone else who has no problem singing this song. You are what you hear and watch. I CAN NOT imagine my four year old singing this in my back seat. I am proud to say her favorite song is, "Our God is Greater" by Chris Tomlin. You should listen to it sometime instead of leaving an open door for Satan to worm his way into your heart.

"Judas" by Gaga is to 2011 as "Like A Prayer" by Madonna was to 1989. Both artists know how to stir the pot and purposefully cause controversy, especially aimed at the religious right who ALWAYS provide more than adequate publicity to their careers. Wake up y'all, this is a catchy little dance/pop track that can be interpreted a multitude of ways. I think she's singing about animal cruelty ;-)) If you don't like it stick to your Owl City or Scott Blackwell playlists. Or, simply stay upset and provide more free PR for Lady Gaga.

Even the devil knows that God exists. Knowing that their is a God... does not make someone a Christian.

This song is ridiculous and so are some of the people commenting. Lady Gaga just wants attention... It's sad that she has to use God to get it. Do you want to know why there is always some sort of controversy with her songs/videos? Because there is always some ridiculous reference to God... If she believed in God like she says she does, then she wouldn't use him as a metaphor in her songs! Just saying! Some of you guys can't be "Christians" because Christians spread love not hate!

You know what, I love God, I dont see how her music can make you change your beliefs. If your faith is strong enough you will overcome anything. I love her music, and I'm not a satanist...
