   Billie found herself with some toxic friends. They are always high and drunk and she isn’t into that stuff. Most people say that they are just high but she says, “bring ashtrays to the table, and that’s about the only thing they share”. They most likely don’t communicate well at all and it bothers Billie. She constantly watches them make the same mistakes and she hates watching it happen over and over again. Because as she says in the song, “I can’t afford to love someone who isn’t dying by mistake”. She also tried to make the chorus uncomfortable to listen to. This is supposed to represent how uncomfortable it is being in a second hand smoke. The rest of the song is nice and smooth like healthy lungs.

Also when her friends were throwing up, they were not surprised at all. During this, she was not drinking. That is some of it.
